Strong communication and engagement skills.
Crisis management, de-escalation strategies,and conflict resolution.
Ability to develop relationships and be empathetic toward a diverse population and a wide range of age groups.
Ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge about community resources and services.
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle. Travel is required. Ability to coordinate and plan travel for visits and appointments in an efficient manner.
Ability to work with an economically and culturally diverse population.
Summary (Not Inclusive):
Supports the growth of the Family and Student Support Center in collaboration with the Director of Guidance.
Develops and maintains relationships with school staff to ensure the best educational experience for each child and with community resource agencies.
Evidence of a clear commitment to professional growth and skill development.
Serves as liaison between home and school, making home visits when additional follow-up is necessary.
Demonstrates strong observational skills for the physical and emotional safety of youth in their home and community environments, FERPA, and state regulations governing the ethical provision of counseling services.
Conducts casework contacts with families in their homes and community settings to focus on goals that support well-being from home to school.
Flexible work schedule to meet the needs of families and support staff and youth in the school setting.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Guidance and/or Principals.
Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as directed by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
