School Renewal Specialist - Promise Neighborhood Grant
Department: Instruction
Unit: Professional and Administrative Exempt
Salary: Grade 108 - Specific salary based on experience.
Compensation range listed is based on average 1-15 years of experience.
JOB SUMMARY
The School Renewal Specialist works with principals and schools to all aspects of the PN Project under the U.S.D.O.E. approved Project design and budget for each fiscal year of the Project. The School Renewal Specialist demonstrates passion and commitment to the PN Project and High Impact Leadership Process for School Renewal with a focus on high integrity and fidelity implementation (HIFI) of evidence-based pipeline of initiatives in alignment with other school-wide student success initiatives.
Each School Renewal Specialist will have expertise and experience in one or more of the PN Pipeline Initiative content focus areas, e.g., Literacy, mathematics, social-emotional learning and development, student engagement, early childhood development, career and college readiness, and other student success factors.
The School Renewal Specialist report to the Director of the Promise Neighborhood Design and Implementation Team. This is a 48-week position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Demonstrate passion and commitment for helping assigned school(s) achieve high integrity and high-fidelity implementation of evidence-based practices that support equity of opportunity and outcomes for all students.
  • Develop constructive and supportive relationships with principals, teacher leaders, and staff in assigned school(s).
  • Develop constructive and supportive relationships with district leaders and PN Grant Partner organization personnel to support the PN Grant Pipeline Initiatives.
  • Assist the principals, teacher leaders, and WMU HIL Facilitators leadership team in achieving high integrity and high-fidelity implementation (HIFI) of the PN Grant Pipeline Initiatives according utilizing the HIL School Renewal principles and implementation processes.
  • Participate in School Renewal (adapted Instructional) Rounds and other walk-through and observation activities with assigned school(s) and/or other PN Project schools.
  • Participate in regular debriefing sessions organized by the PN Grant Project Directors on the work with PN Project school(s).
  • Attend and participate in planning and facilitating PN Grant stakeholder engagement work sessions, summits, networking, and other events and activities designed to develop inclusive processes for designing and implementing PN Grant Pipeline Initiatives.
  • Attend and participate in Western Michigan University trainings as required.
  • Keep the Management and Co-Directors informed on the work with assigned schools and any issues that arise from that work.
  • Establish reliable systems for tracking, assessing, and reporting on the progress of the work.
  • Assist with PN Project data collection (e.g., surveys, interviews, etc.) and collection of PN Project work products (i.e., deliverables of the PN School Renewal Process).
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
  • Knowledge, experience, and expertise related to evidence-based practice in one or more of the PN Grant Pipeline Initiative Focus Areas, e.g., literacy, mathematics, social-emotional learning and development, student engagement, early childhood development, and career and college readiness.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the work of Professional Learning Communities and how to develop and enhance their use in schools.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with District staff and School Leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out professional learning experiences and activities with adult learners.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the multiplicity of issues in a diverse district.
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural competence and the ability to articulate, practice and embed into the work.
  • Demonstrated computer/information technology skills in Microsoft Office products.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is medium work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile, and negotiate.
