MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must meet qualifications for certification as a School Psychologist
- Fingerprint Criminal Background Check with Michigan State Police Required
- Knowledge of Special Education Law and Rules
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrate comprehension of a diagnostic-prescriptive model of evaluation
- Understanding of MTSS and the use of data to design instructional and behavioral interventions
- Demonstrate knowledge in a variety of positive behavior support intervention strategies
- Knowledge and ability to implement data collection techniques for monitoring student growth
- Understanding of universal supports, accommodations and modifications to general education curriculum
- Outstanding communication skills - verbal and written
- Experience working with students who manifest a wide range of abilities.
- Knowledgeable and experienced in matters of proper special education procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- School psychologists provide a comprehensive range of services as described in the current standards from the National Association of School Psychologists.
- The School psychologist functions as part of the district's Student Support Services Team.
- Apply knowledge of both psychology and education through consultation and collaboration with teachers, school administrators, parents, and community providers.
- Participate in effective data-based decision-making using a foundation of assessment and data collection.
- Engage in specific services for students, such as direct and indirect interventions that focus on academic skills, learning, socialization, and mental health.
- Provide services to schools and families that enhance the competence and well-being of children, including promotion of effective and safe learning environments, prevention and remediation of academic and behavior problems, response to crises, and improvement of family-school collaboration.
- Conduct extensive psychological evaluations and re-evaluations.
- Interprets psychological data to Multi-Disciplinary teams, Individual Education Planning Teams, teachers, professionals, students, and parents/guardians.
- Outstanding communication skills in verbal and written form.
- Ability to independently and accurately implement the requirements of IDEA and MARSE.
- Perform all other related duties and documentation requirements as assigned by the Administrator. Performs special assignments as directed by the Administration.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit up to for extended periods of time in a work day, and to sit/stand several times in short periods of time.
