TITLE: School Psychologist Intern (1200 hours) APPROVED: 4/12/2023
2024-2025 School Year
  • Stipend: $20,000.00 - 1200 hours

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Participating in an accredited School Psychology program, required
2 Meet all criteria for PA Dept. of Education Out of State Graduate Internship Program
3. Working knowledge of Pennsylvania Chapter 14, Chapter 15, and Chapter 16 regulations, required.
4. Successful completion of school psychology practicum experience, preferred.
5. Proficiency with computer work processing, data base, and interpretation assessment, required.
REPORTS TO: Site Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To facilitate optimal participation and achievement of all students in Millcreek Township School District in the Least Restrictive Environment within the general education curriculum as appropriate.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Facilitate the referral process, including evaluation, identification and program development for Millcreek resident students who meet eligibility criteria, outlined in Pennsylvania School Code, Chapter 14 and Chapter 16.
  2. Participate in Chapter 15 meeting for the development of Services Plans for students with disabilities who are not in need of specially designed instruction; advise teachers and administrators in the referral, identification, and student service plan development for students meeting eligibility criteria per Chapter 15.
  3. Communicates disposition of extraordinary cases with Director of Special Education / Student Services.
  4. Assure compliance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, maintaining confidentiality of student records.
  5. Consult with community resources as part of Student Evaluation and Program Development recommendations and facilitate collaborative supports for individual students.
  6. Develop individual intervention plans for student in collaboration with parents, teachers, and administration.
  7. Adhere to timelines, processes, and procedures outlined in Pennsylvania Regulations, Chapters 14, 15, and 16.
  8. Supportive role in building based problem-solving teams including but not limited to: Student Support Team (SST), Crisis Response Team (CRT), Instructional Support Team (IST), and Student Assistance Program (SAT).
  9. Take collaborative role with professional staff and administrators in providing awareness of best practices, programmatic issues, and procedural safeguard while dealing with special needs students.
  10. Advocate for Least Restrictive Environment placement as appropriate for all students.
  11. Provide supported guidance to building level and central office administrators for staff and student safety concerns, disciplinary options, and compliance issues.
  12. Partner with Curriculum and Instruction departments to promote data driven decision making for students within the district.
  13. Any other duties assigned by the Site Supervisor, Superintendent, or his designee.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents, skill in oral and written communication.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently sit and stand and almost continuously walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, reach forward and above the head. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as boxes of books and AV equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee regularly interacts with students, staff, and parents in addition to meeting multiple demands and deadlines from several people.
