Position: School Psychologist
Location: assigned to Student Services Division
Location to be determined.
State Date: 2024-2025 School Year - August
Reports to: Principal/Director of Student Services
Compensation: Refer to current teacher salary scale on District website
Work Year: 10 months
POSITION GOAL:
To create and sustain an educational environment conducive to the fulfillment of the District's Mission so that maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized. A teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering instruction based on the approved curriculum and Common Core State Standards to help students move towards academic proficiency.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
1. Must be eligible or hold State of Delaware Certification as a School Psychologist
2. Passed Praxis II for School Psychologist
3. Master degree
4. Proficient in Technology, Microsoft Office Applications, Children's Educational Software etc.
5. Demonstrates sensitivity to issues impacting various cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic groups.
6. Show evidence of knowledge regarding practices known to be effective in promoting student learning while shows evidence of knowledge while
increasing student achievement
7. Demonstrates understanding and ability to perform job related tasks.
8. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position
9. Acceptable Criminal Background Report and no entries on Child Abuse Registry in the State of Delaware.
10. Must be able to teach/serve students remotely and in person depending on the Needs of their students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities related to the District. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Assess difficulties of referred students through appropriate assessment and diagnostic practices.
2. Administers assessments and recommends programming and referral for students when appropriate.
3. Helps identify within the school all types of Exceptional Children
4. Maintain case records on all referred students
5. Conducts individual group, or facilitative therapy for children whose diagnosed problem would benefit from behavior medication when appropriate
6. Confers with school district personnel and parents when necessary
7. Consults on special education needs of all students who have identified educational disabilities.
8. Prepares and submits required reports on all students' caseload who are served in special education.
9. Participates in all relevant staff, professional, and interagency meetings
10. Assists with in-service training of school personnel
11. Participate in all relevant professional development activities
12. Takes leadership role in Response to Intervention (RTI) process in assigned Schools.
13. Takes a leadership role in all buildings based initiatives to interpret and make use of academic and behavior data.
14. Takes a leadership role in development and implementation at school-wide PBS Program.
15. Complies with Federal, State and Local Regulations and Policies
16. Accurately completes all required paperwork within the designated timelines
17. Utilizes all available resources materials (i.e. Employee Handbook, District website, Collaborative Agreement, Professional Code of Conduct, Administrative
Procedures, school district board policies etc) to complete required paperwork, Maintain professionalism and to avoid potential violations/noncompliance
18, Cooperates with Federal, State and Local Agency Personnel during Alternative Education and/or Special Education Compliance Monitoring and/or dispute resolution activities.
19. Remains current in certification, research, instructional strategies and technology
20. Attends in-service programs, mandated trainings and self-selected workshops, conference, courses etc,
21. Reads journals, articles, investigates, internet resources and collaborates with other professional and/or mentors.
22. Keeps certificate current and active by monitoring statues, including clock hours, on the DEEDS website.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
