The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum Department of Education
The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum has an opening for a full-time, exempt School Programs Coordinator position in the Education Department.
Company Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum documents and interprets the history of country music-a musical genre and culture central to the identity of the city, the state, and the nation. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum proudly combines subject expertise, ambitious research, and preservation of an unparalleled collection with expressions of creativity in music, art, and history. The museum collects artifacts that illustrate the evolving history and traditions of country music and provides diverse learning opportunities through educational programs, publications, and exhibitions. The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its evolution as a commercial art form. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics, from country classics to contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.

Departmental Overview: Charged with the mission of educating varied audiences about country music, the Education Department develops programs and resources that illuminate the stories, themes, and music explored in the Museum's galleries. Traditionally serving 100,000 people per year through 1,000+ programs, the Education Department supports students of all ages, from school groups and families who engage in hands-on learning activities to general Museum guests who experience performance presentations during their visit. A creative and curious team, Education staff is composed of traditional and nontraditional educators, including classroom teachers, visual artists, historians, museum educators, and professional musicians. Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum educators share a passion for country music, popular culture, and lifelong learning, and they regularly collaborate to develop and implement dynamic educational offerings commensurate with one of the most-visited history museums in America.
Job Overview: The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum seeks an engaging and highly organized educator to assist with coordination and facilitation of curriculum-aligned programs for K-12 teachers and students. With a passion for the education of young people and knowledge of academic standards, this energetic person will be the lead contact and educator for all gallery-based School Programs, handling pre-visit logistical details and facilitating a wide-range of programs that engage with the Museum's exhibitions and collections.
The School Programs Coordinator plays an active role in all gallery-related programs at the Museum, off-site in schools, or online. From coordinating, planning, and communicating logistics for each program, to greeting every school group and facilitating a successful experience, this enthusiastic and curious individual thrives on sharing the Museum's content with students of all grade levels. The School Programs Coordinator must have a keen understanding of artifacts and exhibits on view, as well as best practices in museum education, including object-based and inquiry-based learning.
Additional responsibilities include: coordinating educator professional development workshops that prepare teachers for participation in Museum programs; assisting with maintenance of School Programs areas of the website, including the digital resource portal for students and teachers; supporting program evaluation and assessment to ensure programs are meeting intended outcomes; providing research support for new exhibits to identify curriculum connections; and supporting new programs and resources that meet the needs of the classroom through the lens of country music history.
Knowledge of K-12 standards, particularly social studies, and a passion for country music history are important in this role. The School Programs Coordinator reports to the School Programs Manager and works closely with the School Programs Reservations and Evaluation Coordinator.

Specific Job Duties:
  • Coordinating all internal details for gallery-based School Programs, including:
  • Determining and scheduling all necessary resources (equipment, supplies and staffing).
  • Creating and communicating the weekly day-of details schedule outlining the daily itinerary and staffing for each program.
  • Preparing contracted musicians and teaching artists for working with students and communicating program details and arrival information.
  • Being the lead facilitator for all school groups visiting the Museum, entailing:
  • Greeting every group upon arrival.
  • Assisting with finalizing payment.
  • Organizing groups for their program experience by pairing them with Museum educators/volunteers.
  • Providing direct program support in the galleries/classrooms throughout Museum visit.
  • Overseeing an on-time and orderly departure.
  • Coordinating virtual learning programs by responding to school inquires, overseeing reservations, leading programs, and maintaining program listings on partner websites.
  • Communicating gallery updates (artifact changes, new exhibitions, etc.) to Museum educators and school program volunteers as needed and assist with content training and resources to ensure access to current information.
  • Collaborating with School Reservation and Evaluation Coordinator to review program feedback.
  • Assisting with School Programs marketing initiatives, including drafting marketing copy, sourcing images, arranging for photography, and maintaining department webpages, among other related tasks.
  • Overseeing quarterly reporting on behalf of the School Programs team, collecting program highlights and photos, and creating slides in the larger education department presentation.
  • Contributing to department record-keeping, including reviewing participation data in Tableau to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Coordinating educator professional development workshops, including responding to inquiries, coordinating internal logistics, managing participant information in Tessitura database, sending confirmation and arrival details to educators, preparing workshop materials and audio-visual elements, and collecting post-workshop evaluation surveys.
  • Assisting with the development, implementation, and maintenance of curriculum-aligned programs and lesson materials, including digital resources that support asynchronous learning, with a particular focus on social studies programming.
  • Assisting with program inquiries from teachers, including returning phone calls and emails and sharing program options and admission details, as necessary.
  • Supporting other programs, including Words & Music, as needed.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, museum studies, music, or related field
  • Experience working in a museum, school or other educational setting
  • Experience teaching children and working with diverse communities
  • Knowledge of object-based learning, inquiry-based learning, and K-12 curriculum standards

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Tennessee Academic Standards for Social Studies as well as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math), SEL (Social and Emotional Learning), and Framework for 21st Century Learning
  • Curiosity, passion for and deep knowledge of country music
  • Proficiency in language(s) in addition to English
  • Dedication to Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) with prior training in racial equity practices
  • Experience designing curriculum-aligned programs
  • Experience with Tessitura and/or Tableau
