NORTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY

SCHOOL OF NURSING
NON-TENURE/ Tenure TRACK POSITION DESCRIPTION
NON-TENURE TRACK FACULTY APPOINTMENT :
RANK: Assistant Professor of Practice orAssistant Professor
TEACHING, RESEARCH AND SERVICE RATIO: (Will be adjusted if candidate qualifies for tenure track)
Teaching: 75%
Scholarship: 10%
Service: 15%
POSITIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to the following:
· Read and abide by all rules and regulations for faculty of North Dakota State University as outlined in the faculty handbook.
· Maintain a current active license as a professional nurse in good standing with the North Dakota Board of Nursing and other boards of Nursing as appropriate.
§ Coordinate and teach courses as assigned by the Associate Dean/Chair of the School of Nursing (SON). Using the SON workload formula as a guide, teaching responsibilities will be incorporated into the position based on School needs and the candidate's expertise.
§ Develop clinical learning activities and rotations for nursing students in contracted inpatient and community settings.
§ Serve as the chair or committee member on DNP students' clinical dissertation committees.
§ Serve on at least one School of Nursing, College, and University committee.
§ Provide appropriate advisement to prospective and professional nursing students and participate in the College and University advisement process.
§ Participate in curriculum development and ongoing program improvement through assessment activities and quality improvement strategies.
§ Seek grant funding to support research/scholarly activities.
§ Disseminate results of scholarly activities through publication in refereed journals and presentations at professional meetings.
§ Participate in any special projects or activities as assigned by the Associate Dean of the School of Nursing or the Dean of the College of Health Professions.
§ Maintain high standards of professional and ethical behavior; and respect and abide by the Mission, Vision and Core Values of the College and established by the faculty where honesty, integrity, and collegiality guide all interactions with students, faculty, staff, administration, and the public.
§ Develop and maintain good working relationships with staff, faculty, employees, patients and students affiliated with the clinical agencies, other nursing programs, and the University.
§ Demonstrate in communication and in conduct respect for others in a kind, courteous and professional manner.
§ Promote and maintain a professional image.
§ Participate in professional associations at local, region and national levels.
§ Support the School of Nursing and the College through participation in faculty meetings.
CLINICAL PRACTICE SITE ASSIGNMENT:
§ Maintain one day a week of clinical practice in health care facilities in Fargo, ND, Moorhead, MN, and possible rural sites arranged through special contacts and arrangements.
SCREENING DATE:
· Screening will begin 5/16/24 and remain open until filled
REQUIRED APPLICANT DOCUMENTS:
· Complete application must include 1) a cover letter describing previous relevant experience and accomplishments, 2) curriculum vitae, 3) statement of teaching philosophy.
· Copy of current RN licensure
Minimum Qualification:
· Master of Science in Nursing with intent to enroll in and complete a DNP or PhD degree
· Active unencumbered RN licensure
Effective oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
· Terminal degree e.g. DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice), PhD (Doctor of Philosophy), or EdD (Doctor of Education)
· Graduate-level teaching experience
· Quality improvement, informatics, and/or population health expertise
· FNP primary care experience
