Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Supervise, plan assess, implement, and evaluate the food services of the Douglas County School Nutrition program in order to meet the nutrition needs and nutrition education requirements of children while adhering to all local, state, and Federal regulations.
PAY GRADE:  DCSS Administrator Certified Salary Schedule FY2024 Grade NN - Salary Range $76,307.00 to $106,987.00.  Salary placement will be based on Douglas County Board of Education approved salary schedules and years of verified experience. 
FLSA STATUS:  Non-Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  231 Days
REPORTS TO: Director of School Nutrition
QUALIFICATIONS: 1.  Education Level:  Bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition, dietetics or restaurant management and Master's degree in a related area of advanced study. 2. Valid Georgia Driver's License reqiored.  3.  Physical Activities:  Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities, including driving personal or school system vehicle. 4.  Experience:  Minimum of three years' experience in food service management.  Preference will be given for good service management experience in a school or hospital setting and current ServSafe certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
PROFICIENT SKILLS:  Communication,, management, budgeting, and instructional skills needed to perform job responsibilities.  Preference will be given for proficiency with nutrients analysis software and/or spreadsheet  sofrware.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:  
  • Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance
  • Oversee assigned "Area of Focus" and provide assistance/support to other areas of focus:  Advisor to support of DCSNA, Personnel, Wellness Initiatives, Grants & Awards, Marketing/Promotions, Provide Support to DCSNA, Workers Compensation
  • Evaluate food products for appropriateness to School Nutrition and provide feedback for quality, appearance, and cost.
  • Conduct annual reviews/performance evaluation of kitchens and manager in each assigned school, including problem identification and program improvement recommendations.  Reviews/evaluations completed and communicated to manager by deadline.
  • Evaluate food service production and service methods in schools during visits and address needed changes with manager.  Make recommendations to SN director for department level procedure updates/improvements.
  • Assist the SN Director in developing, implementing and monitoring safety and sanitation practices.
  • Assist SN Director with program financial analysis.  Evaluate financial position of assigned kitchens in relation to annual benchmarks and advise manager on ways to improve performance.
  • Assist teachers and administrative personnel with parent, student, and School Nutrition staff concerns that pertain to the School Nutrition program.
  • Collaborate with school administration and provide feedback in response to customer service issues.
  • Interact with other school district departments to facilitate services to school cafeterias.
  • Provide input and material for promotion of the School Nutrition program to be used through various media channels such as, newspaper, social media and system website and school based marketing.
  • Oversee personnel management at assigned schools. To include: interviews, selection, training, evaluation and proper labor usage within meals per labor hour MPLH benchmark.
  • Plan and implement in-service meeting sna trainings based on system needs as directed by the SN Director and as outlined by the State Department of Education.  Provide on-site training as needed to reinforce compliance with policy and procedures.
  • Advise managers regarding personnel policeis and procedures.  Assist managers in mediateing local school employee relations and performance concerns.
  • Attend professional development programs to gain knowledge beneficial to the cotninued improvement of the School Nutrition program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the SN Director while following applicable policies and procedures.
