JOB GOAL: Assist the District by using clinical knowledge, judgment, and nursing interventions for diabetes management of assigned student. Uphold professional standards, adhere to the State Nurse Practice Act and other state and local statutes and regulations applicable to school nursing. Work collaboratively with medical personnel, RN supervisor, school personnel, and family, to manage student's health condition and assist in classroom.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITIES
- Provides nursing interventions for diabetes management as ordered by healthcare provider(s) such as but not limited to: blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, treatment of hypoglycemia/hyperglycemia , meal planning/carbohydrate counting.
- Follows medical and individualized healthcare plan as outlined by healthcare provider /RN and provides follow up on diabetic health problems as well as other health problems
- Provides in-service training on diabetes management to teacher(s)/classroom staff
- Utilizes nursing software program for nursing documentation
- Participates in nursing staff development programs as necessary for training and certifications
- Monitors student immunization record and ensures compliance (unsure if applicable)
- Assists in the provision of an effective school health room as needed
- Assists with breakfast /lunch programs
- Assist students with outer clothing
- Assists the teacher in keeping classroom materials neat, in good order, in appropriate areas, and ready for student use.
- Prepares materials according to the teacher's instructions
- Marks students papers using guidelines established by the certified teacher.
- Assists in crisis intervention to help the certified teacher maintain and control or inappropriate behavior.
- Assists in student supervision duties relating to the supervision of playground, study hall, hall duty, cafeteria and bus loading activities as directed by teacher/principal.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the princpal and/or teacher.

- Works with others in a cooperative manner.
