The maintenance worker is responsible for performing maintenance and general housekeeping
activities within well established guidelines and assigned areas and shift(s) to ensure that quality standards, safety guidelines and customer service expectations are met. The maintenance worker is responsible for satisfactory and timely completion of assigned cleaning area according to schedule. Reports equipment/cleaning product needs and or malfunctions to supervisor in a timely fashion. Is responsible for the safe and proper mixing and use of cleaning solutions and adheres to all safety precautions. The maintenance worker is responsible for minor fixes to the building, installation of and general maintenance on appliances and equipment, and upkeep of grounds (outdoor work). Work involves pulling and pushing, carrying weight up to 50 pounds, twisting, bending and reaching from floor to waist height and from waist to above head.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned. Consistently embodies the characteristics necessary to
drive the Company’s Purpose, Vision, Values, and DNA. Represents HCSG in a positive
manner; is able to follow oral instructions, is pleasant, tactful and courteous and cooperative with supervisor, co-workers, residents and client staff.

 

JOB FUNCTION                                                                                                                                                                                               

Maintenance

  • Performs minor fixes to the building such as patching walls, repairing broken locks, changing out light bulbs, and painting.
  • Assists in installing appliances and equipment to performing general maintenance on the equipment.
  • Assists in garden, yard and grounds upkeep.
  • Responsible for inspecting, trouble shooting, and routine maintenance checks on building systems (e.g. ventilation, fire alarm, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Housekeeping/Floor care                                        

  • Performs general housekeeping activities like dusting, mopping, etc.
  • Empties unit trash bins. Empties, cleans and relines unit trash bins and transports and places bags in dumpster. Checks rooms again and empties trash as needed while cleaning individual rooms.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Equipment maintenance and safety                                  

  • Obeys all safety requirements and procedures at all times.
  • Performs preventative maintenance check on all equipment prior to use.
  • Secures work area and posts proper safety notices for other users of the space prior to beginning work.  Is safety conscious while working to avoid cuts, sprains or other injuries.
  • Follows infection control and universal precautions policies and procedures to ensure that a sanitary environment is maintained at all times.  Follow proper reporting, isolation and hand washing procedures/techniques.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and follow appropriate protective equipment measures, read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) sheets.
  • Reports observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects and malfunctioning to supervisor.                                                                       
  • Reports supply and equipment needs to supervisor for replenishing.
  • Maintains equipment used in performing duties.    
  • All other duties as assigned.

Customer Service                                                    

  • Ensures that established sanitation and safety standards are maintained.
  • Interacts appropriately with residents, client, other personnel, supervisor and the public.
  • Responds to customer preferences, complies with industry and federal and state guidelines, and meets the needs of residents.
  • Must respond to the paging system in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • All other duties as assigned.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of maintenance experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must be able to be at work on time.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English as to be understood effectively by another
    individual.
  • Ability to recognize hazards and follow appropriate protective equipment measures, read and understand MSDS sheets, and communicate with coworkers as to such.
  • Personal cleanliness.
  • Pleasant, tactful, courteous.
  • Ability to cooperate with other employees.
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis.
  • Must be able to accomplish all responsibilities without supervision or other employee
    assistance after the training period is completed, and do so without injury to oneself or
    other individuals.
  • Must be able to fully understand and complete all In-Services.
  • Must provide a criminal background check.
