Triton High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated professional
School Counselor who is able to develop strong, proactive relationships with students that foster their passion and unique interests. The School Counseling position at Triton High School is not only a counseling position, it is also a teaching position. In addition to meeting with students individually,
School Counselors teach grade-level based guidance seminar courses on a quarterly basis. We are also seeking a counselor who has strong communication skills, with the ability to regularly connect with families and other educators to support students' needs. At Triton High School we believe in caring for the whole child and building their skills so that they are able to be independently successful. We promote the notion of student agency among all of our students and seek out opportunities for students to express themselves, sharing what they need to be successful in a school environment. Triton High School values individuals who are passionate about the challenges and rewards of working with all types of students. Knowledge of frameworks, experience using technology to aid instruction, and the ability to work well with peers in a collaborative manner are strongly desired.
- Exhibit excellent case management skills while carrying a caseload of 10th-12th grade students.
- Craft and deliver guidance seminar lessons; confident in classroom instruction and management.
- Formal training and experience working with adolescents and families struggling with complex challenges.
- Provide all students with the necessary skills to successfully navigate academic, social, and emotional demands.
- Collaborate with teachers/parents/students/administration/mental health providers to ensure student success.
- Work collaboratively with the student support team, instructional support team, and other counseling staff.
- Demonstrate skill and experience working with parents/guardians from an assets/strengths-based perspective
- Creative problem-solving to enhance student goal-setting and motivation
- Demonstrate effectiveness with development and continuous improvement of student support programming within a school environment;
- Guide and support all students in creating a plan or vision for their post-high school future.
- Support students and families through the college application process.
- Use of Naviance in support of developmental guidance and post-high school exploration.
- Knowledge and skills navigating Aspen, or similar SIS.
- Knowledge and skills navigating Naviance, or similar platform.
- Assist in the organization and delivery of standardized testing, including the MCAS and related Collegeboard exams (PSATs, APs, etc).
- Oversee the implementation of EPPs for students who need support in reaching proficiency in MCAS subject areas.
Salary in accordance with the Triton Regional Teachers' Association Contract
