York Community High School is seeking School Counseling Interns for the 2024-25 School Year. This full-year internship gives School Counseling students the opportunity to gain experience working with students in a wide variety of settings and situations, as well as exposure to school-wide systems of support.
Interns will work with a primary site supervisor to gain exposure in the following settings;
- Coordinating the implementation of tiered interventions for students based on York's MTSS framework.
- Leading small group interventions for academic and social-emotional concerns.
- Providing individual counseling to students across academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary planning domains.
- Co-facilitates workshops and classroom lessons on the counseling curriculum.
- Assists school counselors in the development and maintenance of an effective School Counseling program consistent with the school's mission.
- Reviews school data for evidence that the School Counseling program is meeting the academic, social/emotional, and postsecondary needs of all students.
- Interprets student data and initiates related student programs.
- Supports teacher/parent communication and community involvement.
- Assists students in conflict resolution.
- Refers students to intervention/remediation programs, as well as academic and alternative programs, to ensure academic success and personal well-being.
- Refers students to appropriate school personnel and community agencies.
- Attend meetings (i.e., problem-solving, IEP, and 504 meetings).
- Participates in parent/teacher conferences.
- Serves as a resource for school personnel and parents.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Concurrent Enrollment in a certified School Counseling education program.
