Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Communications & Development, the School Community Engagement Facilitator works with internal and external stakeholders to build community in furtherance of ISL's mission, and facilitates schoolwide community building and engagement that complies with Federal, State, authorizer, and school requirements. This position collaborates with Directors, Administration, and staff from multiple departments and campuses to create opportunities for families to support their students' growth, learn about ISL's unique mission and model, participate in our community, and contribute to the school. The School Community Engagement Facilitator provides training opportunities on relevant topics to the ISL community; manages ISL's visitor screening and volunteer application process; and provides support with volunteer coordination efforts. The School Community Engagement Facilitator coordinates, plans, and executes ISL school wide family engagement events, and provides support for campus-specific family engagement events and activities. The School Community Engagement Facilitator organizes and executes Employee events with employee morale and community-building as a focus. The School Community Engagement Facilitator prioritizes inclusion and equity and works with stakeholders and community organizations to ensure materials and programming are accessible to and respectful of all families. Using Communications and Marketing strategies, the School Community Engagement Facilitator keeps the ISL community engaged and informed, provides resources and guidance, helps address ISL family and community needs, and networks to provide visibility and increase engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Federal and State Programs
  • Coordinate and document the completion of family-facing aspects of schoolwide annual plans and policies as required under Federal and State laws, Department of Education rules, and ISL policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an accurate understanding of relevant laws and rules (Title I, McKinney-Vento, ESSA, etc.)
  • Monitor relevant legislation and inform school leaders of changes to requirements.
  • Manage organizational compliance with Federal and State laws as requested.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of activities.

Schoolwide Community Building and Engagement
  • Network internally and externally to build relationships within the ISL community (families and staff) and with the public.
  • In partnership with families and staff, develop an annual schedule of community-building events designed to empower families to support their students' growth, learn about ISL's unique mission and model, participate in our community, and contribute to the school.
  • Collaborate with staff from across departments and campuses to plan and host programs and events.
  • Coordinate events and opportunities for direct engagement between the Head of School and ISL families.
  • Attend schoolwide and campus-specific events and activities.
  • Manage an annual schoolwide family feedback cycle using a variety of approaches to gather feedback from all parts of the School Community.

  • Use technology and communications strategies to develop materials and resources.
  • Use technology and communications strategies to inform families about opportunities.
  • Manage administrative files and documentation for the Community Support events.
  • Meet regularly with Campus leaders and administration, and under the direction of the Director of Communications and Development, create and implement plans.
  • Operating under the Director of Communications & Development, provide timely updates and reports on projects, campaigns, events, and activities. Share the strategic plan at the CMO level.
  • Provide staff professional development on Federal and State programs, family engagement, and othertopics as requested.

Volunteer Screening
  • Communicate with families about ISL's visitor screening process and volunteer application process.
  • Manage administrative files and documentation for the Volunteer application process.
  • Ensure all visitors have completed the Visitor screening process and volunteers have completed the required background check and training requirements prior to volunteering with students.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding prospective volunteers and documentation regarding those who have completed requirements for volunteering with students.

Other
  • Lead meetings and training to help support Community Engagement at ISL.
  • Interact collaboratively and productively with school site personnel, families, and students.
  • Represent the school in a positive manner.
  • Express thoughts professionally in oral and written language.
  • Possess adequate technology skills.
  • Keep abreast of current research, trends, and issues in education by engaging in professional development activities.
  • Document and/or report attendance as prescribed by school, supplying all necessary documents for processing of payment for services.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with all school policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications, Education and Work Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree; equivalent relevant work experience may be accepted in place of formal education.
  • Two years' experience working in office management, non-profit administration, education, volunteer coordination, or event planning.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Must be comfortable with flex-time scheduling and able to accommodate occasional late-afternoon, evening or weekend events.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Experience working as part of a diverse, multilingual community is highly desired.
  • English fluency is required; Spanish fluency desired.

  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) part of the work day;

  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements;
  • Normal setting for this job is an office/school setting.

Please note: This is a full-time, 40-hr a week position. However, actual scheduling of those hours may vary depending on the type of event, activity or administrative task the School Community Engagement Facilitator is working on at a given point in time. Flex-time (i.e. modified clock-in/clock-out times to compensate for work done outside normal business hours) will be used to ensure time does not exceed 40 hours a week.
