Plaquemine High School Based Health Center, located in Plaquemine, Louisiana, is a member of the Access Health Louisiana Network. We are seeking a Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team.

The successful Family or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner candidate will have or obtain an unrestricted license in the State of Louisiana. The salary range for this position is $87,500-$93,333 per year based on a 10-month assignment. Salary isdependent on experience. This position's work schedule is based on school schedule.

A Nurse Practitioner provides patient care services by independently and interdependently scheduling, supervising, and/or conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; independently participates in the delivery of direct patient care within the scope of authority granted by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing and following the AHL protocols and standards.
Position Description
Under the direction of the VP of Medical Affairs and VP of Operations, the Nurse Practitioner assumes the responsibility of routine exams. Utilizes skills in providing diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems along with providing care focused on health risk factor reduction. Ensures efficient and effective patient care through collaborative planning and problem-solving with center staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Education

1. Current Louisiana RN license.
2. Must possess a Master's degree with a concentration in the respective advanced practice nursing specialty from an accredited college or university.
3. Must possess a certification by a nationally recognized certifying body.

Experience

1. At least one (1) year of experience in advanced practice nursing.
2. Knowledge of scope of practice.

Physical and Mental Requirements

1. Stands and walks most of the day.
2. Reads gauges, digital read outs, graphs and educational material, and patient charts in English (Visual acuity)
3. Exerts up to 20 pounds of force frequently including pushing and/or pulling.
4. Moves quickly from room to room and maneuvers in exam rooms and workspaces.
5. Operates office and medical equipment.
6. OSHA Category I: Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue.
7. Potential exposure to chemical hazards.

I: Essential Duties/Responsibilities (Position):
Patient Relations

1. Achieves customer/patient satisfaction by greeting patients and proactively attending to their needs.
2. Responds to patient requests in a timely and efficient manner.
3. Maintains confidentiality of patient information at work and off duty.
4. Provides health education to students, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups, within area of specialty.

Assessment

1. Performs medical examinations and evaluations and diagnoses, treatment, follow-up, consultations, and health education relevant to the patient's care (age specific).
2. Obtains patient histories and develops patient care charts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
3. Recognizes patient abnormalities, urgent needs, and emergencies and seeks physician assistance.

Treatment / Care

1. Implements nursing care in accordance with established policies and procedures adapting techniques to meet individual patient needs.
2. Knowledgeable about standard practice and procedures that monitor, prevent and control infection in the clinic setting.
3. Instructs patients on care and techniques and provides information in compliance with treatment plans including basic principles of healthy lifestyle and health risk reduction.
