A GLIMPSE INTO YOUR DAY

As a School Based Mental Health Counselor, you'll conduct engaging counseling sessions, both individually and in groups, addressing an array of emotional and behavioral challenges students face. Collaboration is key, and you'll work closely with school staff and families to develop effective intervention plans, providing invaluable crisis intervention support when needed, all while upholding the confidentiality of client records.

In your role, you'll also take the lead in offering training and education on vital Mental Health topics, impacting both school personnel and students. This includes topics like substance abuse prevention, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), and stress management. Facilitating a nurturing and inclusive school climate, you'll engage in activities that create a safe space for growth, offering individual student interventions, skill-building sessions, and psychoeducational support.

You won't stop there. Participating in crucial school meetings such as Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 planning, conducting student screenings, and making referrals for services and support will be an essential part of your role.
