The Center for Youth and families is a Child Advocacy Center and Behavioral Health clinic for children and families. We focus on the child, as well as the environment around the child and promote a strength based approach to healing. Clinicians are trained in a variety of evidence based models related to the program that they are assigned to. Job Summary
The School Based Licensed Clinician is a Masters prepared Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). The Licensed Clinician is stationed on site at a public school and is responsible for the assessment, treatment planning and delivery of outpatient behavioral health therapy services under the clinical direction of the Department of Psychiatry Medical Director as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Job Responsibilities

  1. Provides individual, group, family therapy and crisis intervention services to assigned case load utilizing the highest quality current standards for psychotherapy within the mental health field.
  2. Responsible for completing individual patient comprehensive assessments that include diagnosis of patients utilizing the Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders.
  3. Identifies and communicates appropriate information gathered from patient, family, community, prior medical history and colleagues to other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  4. Formulates understanding of each case and develops initial and recurring treatment plans with each patient. Performs suicide risk assessments, violence risk assessments, and mental status examinations.
  5. Facilitates referrals to higher levels of care.
  6. Completes all clinical documentation following Joint Commission and CMS regulatory requirements.
  7. Provides consultation to the teaching staff and guidance department staff through one to one discussions, observations, team meetings, PPT etc. in order to support the client and facilitate behavioral change.
  8. Creates and maintains dictated/written documentation of comprehensive assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, required data tracking, and case management collateral contacts that meet established Joint Commission, state regulatory and corporate compliance criteria.
  9. Conduct suicide, homicide, and mental status assessments for patients presenting with high risk behaviors and symptoms.
  10. Engages individuals or families in the development of individualized written person-centered treatment plans at admission and at required intervals during patients' course of treatment.
  11. Provision of individual, family, and group therapy utilizing established clinical best practices for each modality.
  12. Provides clinical supervision as assigned to unlicensed clinicians and interns
  13. Performs responsibilities of a mandatory reporter under state statute by making child abuse reports, elder abuse reports, and reports on behalf of individuals with disabilities.
  14. Provides testimony in courts of law as an expert witness as required by the State of Connecticut or the hospital.
  15. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or M.S. in Counseling
  • 2 years' experience working with children and/or adolescents in an educational/clinical setting, plus
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting
  • Current State of Connecticut licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, or LPC required
  • Effective communication in English language both written and verbal
