Maxim Healthcare Staffing is seeking a School Aide. The School Aide is anindividual who works with students requiring instructional, and/or behavioralassistance under the supervision of the special education department and/orsupervising designee.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
- Follows through with IEPobjectives including math, reading, speech, independent skills, and managingbehavioral deficits and excesses, one on one or as a general classroom aide
- Facilitates teacher directedlearning activities including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems,small groups, social games, and work assistance
- Assists students when includedinto general education classes
- Communicates pertinentinformation to teachers
- Accompanies students duringrecess and lunch periods, along with community experiences
- Strictly adheres toconfidentiality requirements regarding all matters pertaining to students,parents, parent communications, and/or classroom activities. (Note: Unlessinstructed otherwise by supervising teacher, all parent communication is theresponsibility of certified personnel)
- Assists with activities ofprescribed programs including those written by related service personnel suchas PT, OT and SLP
- Assists students in thedevelopment of independent skills through self-care activities such astoileting, clothing routines and personal hygiene
- May be asked to assist inbehavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or otherschool professional (i.e. BCBA, Psychologist, etc.)
- Assists teacher with clericalduties including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean andorganized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age orolder
- High School Diploma orequivalent required
- Ability to effectivelyelicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, butnot limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communicationskills
- Computer proficiency preferred
- Successful completion ofbackground screening and onboarding process
- Must meet all federal, state,and local requirements Full command, verbal and written, of the English language
