The historic Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA — the theatre where Broadway goes to summer- is accepting resumes for a Scenic Carpenter for our 2024 Summer Season which includes productions of ‘Tick, Tick,...Boom!’, ‘Million Dollar Quartet’, ‘Beautiful: A Carole King Musical’, ‘Waitress’, and ‘The 39 Steps’. The salary for this position is $675 paid weekly. Salary is based on a 40 hour scheduled work week, any hours worked after 40 will be compensated.
The Carpenter is responsible for aiding in all elements of scenic engineering, construction, rigging, and helping lead load-ins and strikes typical of a traditional summer theater. The Carpenter will aid the Lead Carpenter in overseeing apprentices in a manner that is safe and a proper usage of shop tools/materials.
The Cape Playhouse values collaboration, hard-work, compassion, and creativity. Applicant must have excellent communication skills and be a team player. Ability to read drafts and follow plans is required. Experience in a professional shop is recommended. Experience in welding (MIG) is strongly preferred. Carpenter must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, bending, standing, climbing.
The Carpenter reports to the Lead Carpenter. Position begins on the Cape on May 13th and ends on September 1st. There is some flexibility for start and end dates.
