Scale Operator

Summary

This position deals directly with customers and is the first contact with inbound and outbound trucks. Must provide excellent customer service, have the ability to multitask, and be detail oriented. Responsible for accurately and safely weighing all inbound and outbound truck traffic. Duties include data entry, quality control and communication with multiple departments.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Review tickets for accuracy and grades on grain delivered to SIRE.
2. Weigh all trucks coming into and leaving the plant and directing trucks to the proper location for loading/unloading within the plant.
3. Scanning of contracts and slips in a timely manner.
4. Enter all customer and product data into accounting software.
5. Keep the area around the truck scale and scale room clean and presentable at all times.
6. Greet customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
7. Document SOP contents for area as it develops.
8. Provide excellent customer service.
9. Maintain frequent and effective communications with all effected departments.
10. Responsible for the training of all positions as assigned to the scale house.
11. Other duties may be assigned to accomplish the safe and timely operations within the plant.
12. Wear personal protective equipment as required.

• Excellent Microsoft and Excel software skills

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in grain receiving preferred.
• Working knowledge of the operations of an ethanol plant preferred.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
• Ability to walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, sit, hear and speak.
• Manual dexterity (typing, data entry)

Working Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
• The employee is regularly exposed to dusty conditions.
• The employee is regularly exposed to high noise environments.
• The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather in all conditions.
