About this role:
The SBA Business Development Officer will own the relationship and the process from prospect handshake through the borrower's 12-month loan review and is expected to use sound judgment to keep the Bank's best interest in mind when making decisions. Decisions should be well supported by facts; borrower representations should be supported by proper documentation and due diligence. Specific areas of focus should include, but are not limited to, SBA loan eligibility, SBA loan structure, credit analysis, character assessment, due diligence, documentation, and file maintenance.
In this role you will:
- Support the Bank's People First focus and rules of engagement—maintaining a professional demeanor, working as an active member of the CNOB team, providing all clients excellent service, always striving to make CNOB A Better Place to Be.
- The SBA Business Development Officer's responsibility is the origination of SBA 7a loans consistent with Bank policy and SBA Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
- Pre-screen leads for SBA eligibility and general creditworthiness per CNOB loan policy and SBA SOP..
- Perform sufficient credit related due diligence and financial statement analysis to adequately understand and evaluate credit risk.
- Negotiate terms acceptable to the client and to CNOB.
- Collect and assess all required documents and forms per the CNOB SBA Lending Process Checklist.
- Reasonably ensure compliance with all Bank Policy, SBA SOP, Fair Lending, CRA and HMDA requirements.
- Maintain transaction pipeline.
- Strong People First interest and ability.
- Financial Analysis/Cash Flow Lending.
- Knowledge of SBA Standard Operating Procedure.
- Knowledge of Bank security and safety practices.
- Time management, organization, and communication (written and oral) skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent PC skills, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work well independently and with others.
- Formal Bank Credit Training.
- Prior experience as an SBA Loan Originator, Loan Officer, Analyst
- 3-5 years of commercial lending experience.
