Sawfiler Operator (Babbit Room Tech)

As the Saw Filer Operator, you will be responsible for maintaining saw, guide, knife, and alignment equipment used in the production of softwood lumber. The successful candidate will ensure saw provider quality and guide equipment accuracy is exceptionally maintained. You will work closely with the maintenance team and mill leadership.

Responsibilities

• Inspect saws from vendors, direct contact on quality issues and design improvements.
  
• Assist with quality output of mill guide rooms.
• Work closely with machine maintenance and alignment for equipment accuracy.
• Collaborate with maintenance and management leaders on machine sawing and cutting improvements, adjustments and needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Skilled in circle and band saw maintenance.
• Knowledge of machine alignment standards.
• Technical capacity with an aptitude for math and measurements
• Strong troubleshooting/critical thinking/observation skills

• Understanding of cost as it relates to saws and repairs

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma/GED (or higher)
• 3+ years' experience with saw filing and machine alignment.
• Proven experience in safe work practices as it relates to saw filing
• Experience with filing shop equipment and calibration
