Description
Qwaltec is seeking a Satellite Simulator Test Engineer in Greenbelt, MD to support new and existing NASA projects.

Responsibilities:
In this position the candidate will provide ground system sustainment and operations support and perform the following duties:
Support of major pre-launch test events as part of ground and mission readiness teams
Day to day configuration of the simulation environment for requirements testing, operational procedure validation, and spacecraft training scenarios.
Write standard operation procedures and startup scripts to configure the simulator(s)
Capture differences between the simulator(s) and the actual hardware, which requires learning to a medium fidelity: the spacecraft subsystems, the mission ground system, and the mission payload(s). Communicate and notify ground and operation teams of the impact of these limitations.
Assist the Simulation Lead in developing spacecraft and payload anomaly scripts for contingency requirement testing, and operations training/rehearsal.
Learn NASA mission operations philosophy, simulator architecture, and training/rehearsal methods that can be applied to any mission.
Serve as either early or late point of contact providing on-site and telephone support Simulation Support
Submit weekly reports, including information on accomplishments, problems, risks and mitigation.
Plan and schedule use of the simulator(s) to meet mission testing and training events.
Perform maintenance activities on simulator(s) to ensure highest availability and functionality to users.
Perform system maintenance and software installations in a Windows/Linux environment
Install and maintain monthly security patches as required
Develop and maintain thorough documentation of installation configuration and troubleshooting procedures.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Space Systems) and or four (4) years or more experience; Masters and two (2) years or more experience, or appropriate combination of education and experience as determined by management.
Desired Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in full-cycle software development.
- Proficiency in Dynamic/Object Orientated Programming Language(s)
- Experience with git collaboration tools.
- Experience with NASA mission life cycle and review cycle (design reviews, requirements reviews, integration reviews, trade studies, etc.).
