We are currently seeking a highly motivated Business Intelligence Intern to join our Cloud Renewal Data & Analytics team in the North America Cloud Success Services department. This role is a unique opportunity to gain visibility into real-world end-to-end analytics workflows and provides a holistic exposure to all data fields, including data science, data analytics, data management/security, and data engineering. You will have the chance to utilize and grow your skills in areas like advanced Excel, Power Query, Power BI, and SAP Analytics Cloud. Prior experience with SAP Datasphere, SAP DWC, SAP BW is nice-to-have but not required. As part of our team, you will be challenged with complex business problems and tasked with leveraging Business Intelligence tools to find innovative analytics solutions.

 

Internship Duration: 1 year

 

Specific Processes Owned by the Team:

  1. Renewal forecast aggregation and reporting.
  2. Renewal and churn improvement plan aggregation and reporting.
  3. North America CSS quarterly business review preparation and reporting.
  4. North America regional budget oversight and management.
  5. Responsible for ad-hoc analysis and reporting tasks.
  6. Data access management.
  7. Analytics assets management.

 

Intern Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the creation and maintenance of complex data analysis and analytics tools using Excel, Power Query, and Power BI.
  2. Utilize SAP Analytics Cloud to develop robust reporting and analytics solutions.
  3. Learn and apply knowledge of SAP Datasphere, SAP DWC, and SAP BW, or similar tools, to enhance data management and analytics processes.
  4. Engage in data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes using a variety of data source systems.
  5. Assist in conducting detailed data analysis to extract insights, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  7. Contribute to various projects aimed at improving business performance and efficiency.
  8. Help with the development of documentation and training materials for data management and reporting processes.
  9. Experiment and implement data science projects that utilize machine learning to build prediction models for renewal and churn.

 

Requirements:

  1. Possession of or working towards a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science or a related field.
  2. Strong Excel skills, including experience with VBA, formulas, pivot tables, etc.
  3. Proficiency in Power Query and Power BI.
  4. Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud is preferred.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  8. A high level of attention to detail and a desire for precision.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Possession of or working towards a Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science or a related field.
  2. Familiarity with additional programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) is a plus.
  3. Familiarity with SAP Analytics Cloud (Planning), SAP Datasphere, SAP DWC, SAP BW, or similar tools is a plus.
  4. Previous experience and/or certifications in one of the modern data & analytics technologies like Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQueries, Redshift, QuickSight, Looker, Qlik, and equivalents.
  5. Previous experience with cloud-based technologies.

  1. The intern will experience real-world analytics workload in a multi-billion-dollar cloud operation.
  2. The intern will gain hands-on experience operating and maintaining end-to-end data pipeline while managing strict deadline and timely communication with the stakeholders.
  3. The intern will gain experience developing an analytics product from start to finish with lead's mentorship.
  4. The intern will gain experience managing security and governance aspects of data.

  1. Tech Field: data governance, data analytics, Business Intelligence, data science, and data engineering.
  2. Tech: cloud analytics solution (dashboard + modelling), advanced integrated spreadsheet, hybrid data pipeline, data querying and wrangling.
  3. Tools: SAP Analytics Cloud, Power Query, MS Excel (VBA), Power BI, SAP DWC, SAP Datasphere.

 

What are the expectations for the interns? Dos and don'ts

  1. DOs: learn fast, be flexible in pivoting project direction, adopt agile development mentality, be open to new ideas, be proactive in communication, be creative, be curious and ask a lot of questions.
  2. DON'Ts: opposite of all things above.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP's commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $15-$40/hr. USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
