About the team
The SAP iXp Intern – AI Scientist will be working on strategic SAP topics that helps in SAP’s vision to embed Artificial Intelligence into SAP Enterprise Applications like S/4 HANA, SuccessFactors etc. As a member of AI Unit at SAP, you will have the opportunity to work in any of machine learning tasks like building foundation models for enterprise, work with large language models, knowledge graphs, Natural Language Query processing with enterprise context, general NLP tasks or Computer Vision. For this position, you will be working on building foundation models for SAP structured data, Knowledge Graphs, and large language models.
You will be working in the heart of Silicon Valley and be part of a vibrant intern community on the SAP Palo Alto campus (monthly events, regular community lunches, networking sessions, expert presentations). What you’ll do
Position Title: SAP iXp Intern – AI Scientist
Location: Palo Alto, CA
As Intern AI Scientist, on a day-to-day basis, you will collaborate with engineers and experts in the fields of machine learning and SAP enterprise domain, apply your knowledge to solve interesting data-driven problems and work hands-on to implement your ideas. You will be tackling complex technical challenges independently and as a member of small teams. As an AI Scientist, you will articulate machine learning problems for a use case, build machine learning models, validate them, share the results and possibly deploy them for consumption. You will prototype technology concepts with short turnaround times.
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning.
Current graduate students in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
Experience with Python, with an emphasis on data-science and machine-learning related libraries (Scikit-Learn, Pandas, Numpy, TensorFlow or PyTorch).
Work with state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning models.
Identify additional challenges and document how we might overcome them.
Excellent knowledge in popular modern machine learning algorithms.
Great mathematical skills.
Strong enthusiasm and interest in new technologies and business models of the next generation.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 15-62 USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
