Position Summary/Objective of job:
The Sanitation Specialist I Team Member is an entry-level position on the Sanitation team. The Sanitation team's goal is to reinforce a culture of food safety, good housekeeping, and cleanliness and to maintain sanitation and hygiene standards in various areas of the facility, including production lines, equipment, and common areas. The Sanitation Specialist I will be responsible for performing proper cleaning and sanitation at the Salt & Straw Central Kitchen following Company procedures and requirements. This role requires a diligent and detail-oriented individual and is essential in ensuring food safety and quality standards are met.
Essential Functions:
Following the sanitation schedule, perform cleaning and sanitation of production equipment, machinery, and tools according to standard operating procedures.
Clean and sanitize production areas, including floors, walls, ceilings, and surfaces to prevent contamination and maintain a hygienic environment.
Disassemble and reassemble equipment for thorough cleaning and sanitation, following established guidelines and safety protocols.
Use cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment safely and effectively, adhering to proper dilution ratios and usage instructions.
Dispose of waste and cleaning materials in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Monitor and report any sanitation issues or equipment malfunctions to Sanitation Specialist II or Sanitation Supervisor for prompt resolution.
Follow all safety, SSOP, HACCP, and GMP policies.
Additional Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
Prior experience working in commercial food preparation, manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
Knowledge and Critical Skills:
Fluency in English.
Spanish speaking as a second language is preferred.
Good attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable working both independently and on a team in a manufacturing facility.
Ability to uphold a high standard of service, efficiency, sanitation, and safety.
Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Physical Demands:
Standing 50% of the time.
Walking 50% of the time.
Occasional to frequent bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, and twisting.
Reaching at, below or above shoulder height.
Frequent lifting up to 35 lbs.
Often lifting of up to 50 lbs.
Frequent repetitive motion.
Will be required to regularly talk, hear and see.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment:
The work environment is a restricted space where spatial awareness is very important.
The work environment is loud due to the equipment.
The work environment is bright and well-lit.
A portion of the time will be in the production room, which is between 50-60 degrees.
Frequently be in refrigerators 32-40 degrees and in freezers -15 to 0 degrees.
Room is occasionally wet when cleaning.
Occasionally strong scents & odors depending on ingredients and cleaning.
Exposure to chemical cleaning solutions (chlorine, acid, and detergents).
Wage Transparency:
We are actively embracing pay transparency by disclosing the hiring wage for this role as $16.02-17.10, highlighting its full earning potential within the broader range of $16.02-19.58.
