Job Summary

Here's the deal...we have been growing and selling a lot of taffy. We have hit a point as a company, where we need to jump to the next level in order to continue to build our momentum and growth. One of our biggest challenges is that the growth presents new challenges/opportunities and we need a super amazing person that can come in and make a significant impact. You don't have to know how to do everything, or even have a ton of experience, but you will need to be open to change, improving/creating processes, wearing multiple hats, learning, growing, suggesting ideas, taking risks, etc..

You will be part of one of the quirkiest and most smile producing businesses in the area. Taffy Shop is all about treating others…and we need you to help take the business to the next level. Every experience with the company, from devouring a bag of taffy to calling in on the phone should cause our customers to scream from the rooftops, “that was so nice to meet them! Responsibilities and Duties

We are growing as a company and need someone to help take us to the next level. It requires you to wear so many different hats and be okay with growing pains. So, we really need someone who can help us pioneer this new chapter for Taffy Shop. You really do need to be content doing "whatever it takes" to keep things operating. Some days this will mean that you ship orders all day and other days it will mean that you're helping on one-time projects. A perfect fit will be someone that is willing and able to jump in wherever needed. You will need to understand the whole of the business/operation.

Outside of that, we envision you helping run packaging equipment, preparing pallet shipments, helping organize the warehouse functions (ie. scheduling, printing orders, vendor management, maintaining inventory, etc.), and helping wherever help is needed. As an example, you can handle the computer stuff, you’re cheery on the phone, you don’t mind writing hand-written cards to your customers, and you don’t mind complimenting people. The things that drive you crazy: gossip, fault finding, “going through the motions”, not speaking up, sending out orders incorrectly, not finishing tasks, and exchanging your time for a paycheck. You want to be part of something meaningful and enjoyable. An average day will primarily consist of fulfilling internet orders (this will be most of your time), to helping walk-in customers, to answering emails, to answering phones, to bagging hundreds of bags of taffy, to stocking shelves, to helping with inventory, etc..

You want to progress as a person and make a meaningful contribution to Taffy Shop. You have found that you are happiest when you are giving.

Qualifications and Skills

Must Haves:

--Belief in the Taffy Shop Ideals

—Williness to fill orders accurately and quickly. There is a lot of repetitiveness in filling orders or bags of taffy

--Buy into LEAN Methodologies (continuous improvement and a laser focus on removing struggle in the organization)

--Ability to wear multiple hats...but be happy/content, picking, packing, and shipping orders

--Be passionate about treating others

--Basic computer skills like email, chat, internet, etc.

--Ability to communicate fluently in both written and spoken forms

--Availability to work on-site (Santa Clara) during normal business hours.

**Note: We are open from 9:00am-5:00pm Mon-Fri. We are looking for someone to help work about 40 hours per week, depending on order volume. Although the schedule is flexible, we are primarily needing help between 9am-5pm. We have several college and high-school students who work after classes, and so the mornings are where we need the most help. This would be perfect for budding entrepreneurs, students, moms, retirees, or anyone looking to be part of something meaningful.

Nice to Haves:

--Other talents that could help drive the company forward. Experience with online sales channels such as Amazon, Walmart, Etsy, eBay, etc.., experience with Social Media, or other general small business talents.

--Experience in helping others. Examples would be parenting, service assignments, coaching, teaching, volunteering, mentoring, etc..

--A basic understanding of ecommerce, retail sales, and ways we can do things better than the traditional norms. Pay varies with experience...but we're thinking $14-$18 hr depending on experience and skill set. We are do a quarterly profit sharing program for our employees that is additional compensation above the hourly wage.
