The Sales Representative is responsible for growing RMX business, focusing on customer base of all sizes, managing accounts as assigned, interacting with decision makers while achieving sales performance targets.
Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Sales Representative is the Holcim contact for all projects in the assigned areas and strategic accounts, and is to promote Holcim Ready Mix concrete products, services and solutions through daily onsite visits with customers. Reporting to the Ready Mix Manager of Cowden Ready-Mix, the Sales Representative must also work closely with Safety, Dispatch, Batching, Quality Control, Finance, Payroll and Drivers. The Sales Representative is responsible for growing RMX business in Whatcom County, WA, focusing on customer needs for all customer base, managing accounts and relationships, interacting with decision makers while achieving sales performance targets, and explore and improve the use of Sale Force functions for the RMX team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example; performs all work activities following all relevant safety policies and procedures.
• Drives revenue through increased sales and solution selling to optimize opportunities to maintain and grow customer base.
• Promotes solution-based selling to maintain strong customer relationships and be proactive in understanding customer needs.
• Reviews and understands project specification including concrete specification, structural drawings, contract details, terms and conditions in the assigned areas and for assigned customers.
• Work with QC/QA on project specification and mix design submission
• Efficiently and accurately produce quotations by use of computer software such as Sales Force Lightning (SFL) and submit to customer in timely manner before deadline
• Daily review sales report and make correction in a timely manner, and works with Lafarge Americas Business Services (ABS) and Billing Coordinator to ensure accuracy.
• Follows Sales Force Effectiveness (SFE) requirements and develops action plans to meet corporate and individual sales goals and objectives.
• Build strong relationship with assigned customers at all levels including VP, project managers and site superintendents.
• Ensures that relationships are solid through meeting daily visit targets per day with clients, site superintendents, project managers and subcontractors, on site and at offices.
• Ensures detail of visits and customer information are recorded in Sales Force Lightning.
• Attends daily sales/logistics call and provides updates from assigned customers job sites
• Attends and proactively participates in monthly finance and sales meetings and other meetings.
• Schedules bi-monthly formal joint customer visit with RMX Manager.
• Presents sales progress report and discusses previous month performance to RMX Manager monthly.
• Ensures full completion of daily ready mix revenue tracker for revenue forecasts.
• Ensures that processes and practices are in place to meet monthly accounts receivable targets.
• Strictly follows kickoff meeting criteria. Explains product and order information to site, and provides direction and assistance in the coordination of deliveries to all projects.
• Demonstrates to new customers and trains new users on new software/app such as DirectA and ConcreteDirect. Provide feedback and troubleshoot with software developer.
• Works with customers to actively resolve site-related issues or account problems.
• Works with CCLC to ensure appropriate product use and promote extra products and services.
• Participates in local associations and partnerships to maintain and increase Holcim presence in local areas and to promote values sales.
• Attends and supports customer events to present Holcim interest.
Results / Accountabilities:

• Meet sales objectives with assigned customers and/or in assigned territory.
• Maintain up-to-date sales information in SFL
• Increase Holcim presence in market through SFE.
• Maintain close relationship with customers and local market.
• Adherence to all internal control requirements.
• Conduct kickoff meetings and pre pour meetings as per guideline
• Address inquiries and concerns from assigned customers and their job sites
• Understand construction status and challenges for each assigned customers job sites
• Communicate any changes to customer deliveries with Dispatch.
• Identify and share recommendations for improvements.
• Meet and exceed department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
• Timely and accurate reports review to support delivery, billing and sales activities.
• Timely and accurate customer account management following Holcim policy.
Dimensions:
• Interfaces closely with RMX Manager, operations, productions, quality control, dispatch, batching, credit and finance departments.
• Works closely with functional teams, i.e. H&S, Environment & PR, HR, & IT.
• Directly reports to RMX Manager, Cowden Ready-Mix
• Annual Sales Volume: $ 14MUSD
• Annual Volumes: 75K to 100K YD3
Qualification Profile
Education and Work Experience:
• Recent graduate, within the past two years, with Bachelor Degree, Diploma, or related work experience
• 0 - 2 years' experience within the construction industry experience an asset
• Experience with concrete ready mix experience is preferred
• Prior sales experience within industry considered a strong asset
• Prior customer service experience considered a good asset
• Demonstrated strong application user skills for MS Office Suite of products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at intermediate level
• Experience using Sales Force Lightning system preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Self-motivated, able to quickly build and maintain positive working relationships
• Strong sales ability, can quickly understand customer needs and provide solutions
• Demonstrated strong problem solving skills; a self-starter
• Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Strong time management skills essential
• Patience and understanding but be able to deescalate situations
• Independent thinker
• Ability to negotiate skillfully in tough situations without damaging relationships
• Ability to maintain composure in dealing with difficult situations; demonstrates positive customer service attitude
