Summary
A Safety Specialist is a professional responsible for ensuring the well-being of employees and maintaining a safe work environment within an organization. In this role, the Safety Specialist's primary focus is on developing and maintaining safety training programs and providing support for safety program development. The Safety Specialist designs and develops safety training materials, modules, and programs tailored to the specific needs of the organization and its workforce. They ensure that training content is relevant, engaging, and compliant with safety regulations. Their goal is to prevent accidents, injuries, and potential hazards in the workplace.
Essential Functions:

• In cooperation with corporate management develop EHS strategy in support of EHS strategic goals.
• Maintain company safety training programs and Alchemy Systems platform.
• Develop and assist in implementation of training programs to transfer EHS knowledge and core competencies to management and associates.
• Develop training programs and content for Safety and Environmental Compliance.
• Conduct training sessions for employees and management on use of training materials and software programs.
• Support field locations with the implementation of training programs, compliance training, and documentation.
• Review training programs for compliance to local, state, and federal regulations.
• Monitor company training progress and report on status of compliance readiness.
• Review company incident trends and develop training to address training needs.
• Develop and maintain a New Hire Safety Training Program for all company locations.
• Provide oversight of company behavioral observation programs, provide reporting on progress, and develop new observations to address safety performance.
• Assist in company safety communication programs by creating and developing safety content to engage all employees in safety programs.
• Assist with the Risk Department with management of database systems related to Safety, Risk, and Security Data.
• Support the Sr Safety Manager in company safety programs, compliance activities, safety training, compliance audits, and fleet safety.

Important Functions:

• Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Safety and Environmental programs and tracking compliance data.
• Experience building presentations and analyzing safety data.

Qualifications:
Any combination of education, training and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge:

• At least 1-2 years of experience in training related to safety.
• Experience in creating training programs related to safety and compliance.
• Experience is creating Learning Plans related to safety and compliance training.

Abilities:

• Exceptional business communication
• Effective listening and alternative dispute resolution skills
• Effective facilitation of training classes in small to large groups.

Experience, Education and Training:

• Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Experience with environmental and safety compliance programs.

Physical Requirements:

• Perform bending, squatting, sitting, and reaching.
• Must be able to move throughout various buildings, conduct training as requested.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds, to move office equipment and supplies as needed.
• Must have excellent attendance.

Working Environment:

• Standard office/store/warehouse environment.
• Traditional warehouse environment with loud noises, fast moving equipment, with limited exposure to the outside environment.
• Must be able to work nontraditional hours as needed (before and after normal office hours and weekends).

Licensing/Certifications:

• Other pertinent safety certification or designations are desirable as well.
