Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Community Arts Counselor for the Mason Gross School of Arts. The Counselor position works with Rutgers Community Arts Instructors and Administrators to assist in the facilitation of camps for students in grades 5th through 12th grade in Filmmaking, Art and Design, and Music.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists instructors and/or office staff with camp management during class hours, lunch, and breaks.
  • Ensures the welfare, health, and safety of campers during day and/or residential programs if assigned.
  • Checks in with campers promptly and ensuring they are dismissed safely and effectively.
  • Records and reports attendance.
  • Assists RCA administrators in organizing and maintaining campers and camp information.
  • Undertakes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Certifications/Licenses

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and computer literacy.
  • Must be responsible, patient, and detail oriented.
  • Must complete the training as required by the university including and not limited to, University’s Protection of Minors.

Equipment Utilized

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Lifting supplies and equipment when necessary.
  • Will chaperone campers around and on off-campus field trips.
