With a commitment to continuously improving one's practice, curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a grade level team, teachers work to achieve strong student results. Teachers, in addition to holding instructional responsibilities, serve as student advisors and community leaders and play an integral part in the life of the school. All support the development of Link scholars working towards strong student growth, admission to competitive high schools and lifelong success, as well as the positive school culture.
Teachers are supported in their practice with on-site instructional coaches, bi-weekly professional development and staff meetings, outside traning, and a team of hands-on, dedicated administrators. Teachers who are new to the profession are expected to particiapte in Relay Graduate School of Education's 2 year Masters in the Arts of Teaching Residency Program, supported financially by Link.
Position Description
The 5th Grade English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher will implement the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in mathematics. S/he will join a team of 5th Grade teachers (1 social studies/science, 2 math and 2 English Language Arts) to support the academic and personal growth of 80 5th Grade scholars (4 teams of approximately 20 students in each). The ELA Teacher will teach two teams, five days per week and collaborate with the rest of the 5th Grade teaching team to support high levels of achievement. The ELA Teacher will also serve as community leader and advisor for 5th Graders, will particiapte in morning circle, and take part in weekly breakfast/lunch duties,

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent

- Appropriate grade level/content area NJ Teaching Certification (Alternate Route candidates will be considered)
- Required criminal history check, medical exam, and residency in New Jersey (residency within one year of hire)
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

Education
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment
- Masters Degree in related area a plus
