JOB SPECIFICATIONS
JOB TITLE: Inspector/Inspectress
REPORTS TO: Executive Housekeeper or Assistant Housekeeper
JOB SUMMARY: Insures that standards of cleanliness are maintained in guest rooms with proper placement of supplies in room. Re-checks reported status of rooms and reports back to Executive Housekeeper for release of room to front desk.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
< Receives the list of rooms vacated by guests, and informs the room attendants assigned to his/her area which rooms need to be cleaned
< Supervises the work of the room attendants in assigned area, and ensures that all work is done properly by inspecting beds, furniture, bathrooms, etc. Reports work poorly done
< Checks rooms to ensure that lights are properly working. Inspects for needed repairs, such as torn carpet or wallpaper, and painting needs. Calls work orders into the housekeeping office
< Instructs and trains new room attendants in their assigned duties and responsibilities and observes their capabilities while working
< Checks all vacant rooms
< Checks section housekeepers for appearance, name badges, and keys
< Checks all housekeeping carts for linens, supplies and neatness
< Reports any unusual activity or appearance to Executive Housekeeper
< Sees that store rooms are cleaned and stocked with linen supplies daily
< Checks assigned area at close of day making sure all equipment and supplies are stored and locked securely
< Picks up keys at close of day and returns to Executive Housekeeper
< Reports room status in assigned area at end of day to the Front Desk (P.M. Report)
< Assists in special projects such as inventory control, VIP requests and monthly room inspection checks
< Provides courteous guest service and responds promptly to guest questions, complaints or requests
< When needed, will assist in cleaning rooms or in laundry
< Other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Physical Demands: Requires walking and standing to a significant degree. Requires ability to perform housekeeping chores (cleaning rooms or assisting in laundry) which involves lifting (i.e. mattresses), stretching, handling, bending, feeling. Requires ability to communicate both orally and in writing with guests and co-workers: Talking, Hearing.
Environmental Conditions: Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Essential Skills: Knowledge of applicable franchise standards and procedures. Supervisory/Management skills: Ability to perform training and to assist in professional development of housekeeping staff. Ability to maintain records and communicate effectively with members of other hotel department.
Educational/Vocational Preparation: High school graduate or equivalent required. Pervious experience in housekeeping is required.
