Job description

Hyatt Place is seeking Housekeeping Hosts (Room Attendants) for their property in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. For this role, we are seeking a hands-on, dynamic associate for ultimate guest satisfaction by ensuring the Hyatt Place and AHC Hospitality brand standards are followed for cleanliness of guest rooms and public spaces. Must have full availability on weekends.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Providing care to our guests through day-to-day guest room stay-over cleaning and post- guest departure room cleaning. We are looking for self-starters with a proven track record of providing exceptional guest service, active listening abilities, housekeeping knowledge, and problem solving skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assure guests are provided care within the established standards and policies set forth by the Hyatt Place and AHC Hospitality brand standards. Ensure optimum performance in housekeeping operations. Responsibilities will include: upholding the highest levels of care toward our guests, basic knowledge of ‘World of Hyatt’ loyalty program, and following through on guest issues to ensure satisfactory resolution.

  • Able to complete 13 credits in an 8 hour shift: 13-26 beds, 13 bathrooms
  • Credit counts are as follows: 1 credit per vacant room, .75 credits per stayover, and .25 per touch up or pick up room
  • Timely clean and restock all areas of the guest room per established quality standards using a vacuum, sticky roller, and department-issued cleaning chemicals.
  • Clean 1 credit at a 33 minute pace – Checkouts
  • Clean 1 credit at a 24 minute pace – Stayovers – 18 minutes per .75 credits
  • Timely address guest complaints and/or requests with professionalism and patience within a ten minute time frame.
  • Timely and accurately follow the workflow provided by Leadership and Team Leads to complete the daily assignment and production standards provided by Hyatt Place brand standards.
  • Timely report maintenance issues in rooms.
  • Move and arrange furniture per established standards.
  • Keep cart well-stocked, tidy, and clear of unapproved items at all times.
  • Attend all mandatory departmental meetings.
  • Bend, stoop, stand, and walk for the duration of the shift.
  • Arrive to work on time and prepared to start shift on any day scheduled.
  • Timely complete all daily responsibilities/cleaning task list.
  • Clean all guest rooms on daily assignment within allotted time and within established quality standards provided by Hyatt Place brand standards.
  • Make beds, clean all areas of bathrooms, use and maintain equipment properly, maintain assigned area, including but not exclusively, hallways, windows, elevator landings and guest rooms per Hyatt Place brand standards.
  • Communicate daily with Leadership and Housemen.
  • Timely report all damage to Leadership and Team Leads.
  • Report and hand over personal property left by guests in a timely manner.
  • Use all chemicals properly and safely as required by product safety labels and OSHA standards.
  • Perform deep cleaning as assigned per Hyatt Place brand standards.
  • Maintain linen properly and per Hyatt Place brand standards.
  • Work in a fast paced, busy, and occasionally noisy environment.
  • Timely report guest violations of established policies.
  • Safely maneuver and control housekeeping cart, which requires pushing 50lbs.
  • Follow Hyatt Place handbook policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Well groomed, must adhere to Hyatt Place brand standards.
  • Display excellent guest service skills.
  • Work with other departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure the guest room cleanliness motivates guests to come back to the hotel at the earliest opportunity.
  • Engagement with guests and associates in a caring and positive manner, using active listening skills, to understand the needs and wants of the guests – wherever possible getting to know their preferences on a professional manner.
  • Understand the mission, vision, and game plan of Hyatt Place brands.
  • Create and sustain a work environment that embraces Hyatt Place and AHC Hospitality brand cultures
  • Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems.
  • Achieve and maintain optimal brand awareness in addition to achieving and maintaining elite guest service, inspection, and loyalty brand scores.
  • Provide appropriate recognition to members of Hyatt’s loyalty program.
  • Take pride in appearance and report to work in complete uniform, wearing the proper shoes and socks professionally dressed and neatly groomed.
  • Keeps work area neat and clean. Can be found picking up trash in public and back of the house areas of the Hotel. Knows where to recycle items for the department and consistently places them in the appropriate bins and recycling stations
  • Approach guest issues with empathy and recover service as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Hyatt core values.
  • Complete any and all other duties assigned by Leadership and Team Leads

**If business levels require, each employee will be asked to help in other areas. All employees will be trained in other departments to ensure the operations of the hotel are achieved in a timely manner and to guest satisfaction.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Certified Tourism Ambassador, preferred
  • CPR certified, preferred

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years minimum in the role of housekeeping preferred.
  • Previous experience in branded hotels preferred.
  • Housekeeping knowledge preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before guests and associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to perform addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts or percentages.
  • Ability to project forecasts preferred.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The hotel functions 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. All employees, both management and hourly must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift as business demands.
