Job description

Job Title: Roll Operator

Summary: Roll Operators are responsible to ensure all parts meet the company quality procedures and match order specifications while following the quality processes.

Essential Job Functions and Basic Duties include the following:

  • Read paperwork correctly and match the information to the plate on the floor.
  • Read roll letter and measure plate. All dimensions and bevel detail must match paperwork.
  • Sweep plates measure and prep them for the Roll Operator.
  • Insert plate into roll using an overhead crane.
  • Find the ID on the paperwork and look for the template/sweep the Roll Operator will be using to roll the can.
  • Tack weld cylinders using a flux core.
  • Ability to Run crane when rolling big ID cans.
  • Ability to fit up cans prior to tacking.
  • Make sure all bevels are grinded before rolling.
  • Mark cylinders when complete with the proper information on the paperwork.
  • Always make sure to match stamp on cylinder to the paperwork.
  • Clean machine and inspect to make sure there are no leaks or maintenance issues.
  • Check the OD strap to every can and tag the dimensions on both sides.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English proficiently.
  • Additional duties and tasks may be assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak proficient English.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat (non-weather).

Physical Demands:

  • Must have the ability to read a variety of documents, instruction manuals, signs, reports, and other items.
  • Must be able to perform and understand basic math skills and simple measurements.
  • Must be able to work in an environment where personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
  • Must be able to work in an environment that can be hot and/or cold and may require working in different types of weather.
  • Must be able to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds; occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to make small movements, pick up small items, feel/grasp items, and maneuver items.
  • Must be able to talk loudly, quickly, and clearly over loud sounds in the working environment.
  • Must be able to hear average and normal conversations and sounds.
  • Must have average/ordinary vision to inspect and operate machinery and prepare documents.
  • May be occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and/or crawl.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $21.50 per hour

Expected hours: 45 – 55 per week
