Job description

Connor Co., a company with a rich historical background, has an exciting opportunity available at our Rockford, IL branch for a Warehouse Supervisor position. We seek a motivated individual committed to building a long-term career with our organization.

This role presents an excellent chance to become integral to Connor Co.'s operations. The Warehouse Supervisor oversees the efficient and safe operation of the warehouse by coordinating and directing the activities of the warehouse team. This role involves maintaining a productive work environment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and overseeing the quality and accuracy of work performed.

Candidates must:

  • Pass a pre-employment background check and drug testing.
  • Be available to work from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:
Lead by example and perform the same work duties as those supervised, including more complex or skilled tasks, to set a standard of excellence.
Monitor and enforce safety procedures and equipment usage to maintain a safe working environment for all warehouse employees.
Review work during and upon completion to verify proper execution and quality.
Communicate with designated employees about loaded items and promptly address problems encountered.
Analyze freight to determine optimal loading sequences for efficiency.
Collaborate with workers and managers to troubleshoot work-related challenges and implement effective solutions.
Verify specifications of materials against information in work orders or packing slips.
Develop and manage work schedules, assigning duties to ensure adequate staffing levels for efficient operations and response to changing workloads.
Clearly communicate and explain work orders to team members.
Maintain accurate work records and generate reports, including employee time and wages, daily receipts, and inspection results.
Regularly inspect equipment for wear and compliance with specifications.
Estimate material, time, and staffing requirements based on work orders, job specifications, and experience.
Conduct staff meetings to relay important information and discuss topics such as safety measures.
Evaluate employee performance and prepare comprehensive performance appraisals.
Identify training needs and provide or arrange appropriate instruction for staff members.
Address personnel issues, complaints, or formal grievances, aiming for resolution at the supervisory level or escalating as necessary.
Initiate personnel actions, such as promotions or disciplinary measures, based on performance evaluations and company policies.
Participate in hiring by reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, and contributing to hiring decisions.
Manage inventory of supplies and requisition or purchase additional items as needed.
Provide counseling and guidance to employees regarding work-related activities, personal growth, and career development.
Coordinate shipment schedules and transportation methods for materials.
Provide price quotes to customers for services as required.
Perform other duties as requested by supervisors or management.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:
To be considered for the Warehouse Supervisor position at Connor Co., candidates must meet the following requirements:

Working Conditions:
