- Coordinate and plan ordinary maintenance and program track work with other departments to maximize track work and train operations
- Perform track inspections and monitor track inspectors to ensure quality inspections and safe train operations
- Follow and monitor work practices, safety related issues to improve quality and performance
- Monitor and enforce FRA compliance along with company policies, rules and standards.
- Work with local, county and state agencies on railroad issues to create and continue good relations.
- Plan and provide information for future track improvements with management
- Manage labor, tools and materials for field forces to perform track maintenance
- Familiar with and able to apply safety rules and procedures
- Perform other tasks necessary to the efficient operation of the railroad
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Lead, direct and manage the day-to-day activities of the M/W Department
- Responsible for the hourly technical craft employees as well as all supervisors in the M/W Department
- Interfaces with other departments to ensure efficient and organized operations of the railroad
- Responsible for filling vacancies ensuring compliance with corporate policies and procedures
- Responsible for enforcing compliance with safety procedures; use of PPE keeping required records
- Monitor and closely control all maintenance and other related costs associated with the Department
- Manage and ensure Department meets its track, signal and capital projects service goals
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Education Required or Equivalent Experience: Associate's Degree; 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Education Preferred: Associate's Degree in Engineering a plus.
- Related Experience Required: Demonstrate the ability to self-motivate; prioritize; promote safe work habits; manage budgetary constraints.
- Related Experience Preferred: Rail Industry a plus
- Must have a valid driver’s license

- The environmental factors/and or physical requirements of this position include the following:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit potential customer locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move). The employee is required to have good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate computer equipment and read information. Required to lift up to 100 pounds.
