A Brief Overview:
The Patient Safety Manager will provide a continuous review and analysis of safety issues, will oversee the development of comprehensive Patient Safety improvement initiatives to reduce medical errors and healthcare incidents and coordinate initiatives targeted at efforts to improve the quality of care and Patient Safety throughout the organization by identifying problem areas, collecting/reporting data to leadership and developing/managing projects related to compliance with the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals and other regulatory agencies. And ensure clinical services are being delivered in compliance with federal and state safety standards
What you will do:
- Plans, Organizes and the Patient Safety Incident reporting system.
- Implements and refines a Patient Safety system to meet the Regulatory Requirements of TJC, CMS and NJ DOH / Administrative Code
- Identifies and collects patterns of over and under utilization, delays in services and inappropriate use of resources.
- Evaluates the measurement of outcomes to determine priorities for improving systems and processes. Intervenes to prevent noncompliance.
- Identifies and communicates provider issues as related to Patient Safety and quality
- Educates the Nursing, Medical and Hospital Staff on Patient Safety, Risk and improvement initiatives
- Conducts internal and external reviews for compliance.
- Maintains up to date Regulatory knowledge to foster compliance
- Performs the investigation of incidents, errors, injuries, patient complaints and organizes follow up
- Maintains the PSR data base and ensure the appropriate follow up of incidents based on the severity
- Escalate concerns and requests for guidance to the Director; as needed
- Conduct RCA’s as needed or requested with the implementation of corrective action plans
- Collect, review and analyze PSR data and recommend changes to Policies, Procedures or Programs to prevent a reoccurrence
- Co Chair the Patient Safety Committee, organize the Agenda, the data for presentation and the follow up
Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree BSN. Required
Experience Qualifications:
- 10+ years 5 to 10 years of Clinical Leadership; Required and
- with knowledge of Risk/Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Initiatives Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Patient Safety, Risk assessment of incidents and Regulatory knowledge, Database
Licenses and Certifications:
- RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure Registerd Nurse licensed in State of New Jersey Upon Hire Required and
- Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP) Work towards certification in Risk Management ASHRM Upon Hire Required
