Banner Thunderbird Medical Center (BTMC) has served the Northwest Valley for more than 25 years. BTMC provides the highest level of maternity care in the West Valley; it is one of the leading providers of maternity care in the entire state. The Women & Infants Services (WIS) department at BTMC is a fast-paced environment averaging 5000 deliveries per year. BTMC is accredited by the Arizona Perinatal Trust as a Level IIIb Center. This certifies that we are qualified to take care of the most high-risk patient population. Our doctors and nurses have the expertise and experience to care for some of the most complex pregnancies and deliveries, including women with pregnancies complicated by diabetes, high blood pressure and premature labor. Our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) has 41 beds, enabling us to care for babies born at any gestational age. We have 15-private Labor and Delivery rooms, 14 high-risk Antepartum rooms, and over 30 postpartum couplet rooms for our patients.

As the RN Operations Support Specialist for Obstetrics, you will have the opportunity support the L&D and Postpartum onboarding and orientation oversight. You will also support staff clinical development, clinical specialty skills pathway, quality care, risk management, safety and nursing standards, and lead department clinical practice implementation. Monday-Friday, 8 hour days with some hybrid flexibility.
Nonprofit Banner Thunderbird Medical Center opened its doors in 1983 and has been growing ever since to meet the health care needs of the communities it serves in northwest metropolitan Phoenix. The tertiary care hospital provides everything from routine to advanced, specialized care to both adult and pediatric patients. Banner Thunderbird is certified as a Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center and features a 35-bed Level III neonatal intensive care unit that cares for babies of high-risk pregnancies and those born prematurely. Banner Thunderbird is also home to the only pediatric intensive care unit for seriously ill or injured children in the area. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting nurse leadership in the planning, development and execution of facility education for clinicians, supporting the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses, career development and effective internal clinical communications. This role performs under the guidance and direction of the chief nursing officer or designee and serves as a liaison between all disciplines by effectively communicating, educating and problem solving. This position proactively supports the quality and continuity of services throughout the healthcare systems and assists in resolution of systems issues and enforces facility/unit/department policy/procedures and standards of care. This position coordinates oversight of quality, risk management, safety and nursing standards and is a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and maintaining clinical competency within the facility/unit/department; collaborates with Clinical Education to coordinate and support the on-boarding and precepting of newly hired nurses (this includes supporting programs and communication within the facility); develops and coordinates system and facility initiatives to promote clinical career development and lateral nurse pathways and may lead and implement facility clinical initiatives. This position contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care; and actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such activities may include participating in professional organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess knowledge of healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a Associates degree.
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Requires a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant experience. Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree is nursing preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
