Little Rock sits on the banks of the Arkansas River in Pulaski County, located in the center of the state. And with a population of nearly 200,000 people, it's the largest city in Arkansas and definitely the place to find a good time at a great value.

The story of the "little rock" -- Benard de le Harpe, who is believed to have traveled about 50 miles above the present sites of Little Rock and North Little Rock, AR, described the area when writing about his journey. He noted a landmark on the north bank of the Arkansas River, which he referred to as the "French Rock " (now known as "big rock"). The first outcropping of rocks along the riverbanks above its mouth on the south bank came to be known as the La Petite Roche -- "Little Rock." The city of Little Rock was incorporated just over 100 years later.

John L. McClellan Veterans Affairs Medical Center
The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS), a flagship Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare provider, is one of the largest and busiest VA medical centers in the country. Its two hospitals, located in Little Rock and North Little Rock, anchor a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient healthcare services, ranging from disease prevention through primary care, to complex surgical procedures, to extended rehabilitative care.
This System serves as a teaching facility for more than 1,500 students and residents enrolled in more than 65 educational programs; its principal affiliate is the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

POSITION OVERVIEW (duties include but are not limited to)

• Documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition,
• Collaborating with healthcare team members and other interdisciplinary teams to facilitate positive patient care outcomes
• Providing a full range of nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems
• Accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of the job
• Demonstrates organizational skills which enable completion of work in a timely manner with demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role in a patient-centered program, and
• Establishes effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.

QUALIFICATIONS

• MedSurg or PACU experience (1 year minimum)
• Med/Surg Certification a plus
• ACLS/BLS required
• Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required Graduate of a professional, accredited nursing program
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia
