What You'll Do:
Unit Description:

• Adheres to American Nursing Association (ANA) code of ethics and to the scope of practice described in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
• The orthopedic/neurosurgery unit is a fast-paced, 58-bed unit consisting of all private rooms located in The Joint and Spine Center (JSC). It has state-of-the art technology including the Navicare Nurse Call system, in room computing, patient information and precaution monitors as well as texting communication.
• Primarily provides specialized care for patients undergoing orthopedic/neurosurgical procedures including total joint replacements, fracture repairs, spinal surgeries, craniotomies and intracranial hemorrhage patients.
• May also receive medical/surgical overflow.
• Experience of caring for the diverse patient population on this unit provides staff with a solid clinical foundation in medical surgical nursing.

• Demonstrates the knowledge, abilities, and skills to provide age and culturally specific patient care and education required.
• Effectively communicates with peers, utilizes appropriate channels of communication and maintains absolute confidentiality required.
• Maintains competence and demonstrates evidence of continuing professional growth required.
• Demonstrates the ability to accept and implement change and the ability to work in a culturally diverse setting required.
• Diploma of Nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• Ohio RN License or Compact required.
• BLS (American Heart Assoc.) required.
