Job Summary:
Interventional Radiology Nurses are vital members of the radiology team, providing patient care during minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. The IR Nurse provides critical nursing care to the cardiac patient while assisting the Interventional Radiologist in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. He or she closely monitors the patient for complications, administers medications including moderate sedation, documents the procedure, and also may circulate or scrub into procedures. IR nurses also play an important role in communication and patient education both pre and post operatively. They have excellent ACLS skills and are always prepared for emergencies.
Dept. Details:
Administers medications necessary for procedure, including moderate sedation and critical medications. Manages care of patients during moderate sedation. Ability to manage ICU patient population. Monitors hemodynamics throughout procedure. Provides outline documentation of procedure events. Understanding the use of supplies and equipment used in various procedures.
- # Beds: 4-IR Suites & 1 Neuro Suite
- Nurse/Patient ratio: 1 to 1
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the applied state
- 2+ years IR experience required
- BLS, ACLS & PALS certification required
- Epic and Maclab experience preferred
