Responsibilities:
The Educator facilitates the professional role development and growth of nurses and other healthcare personnel along the continuum from novice to expert on the Transport Team. Responsibilities include:
Works in partnership with nursing leadership and staff to assess the learning needs and competencies of staff
Develops, implements, and evaluates education plans/programs and utilizes methods, measurements, and tools to evaluate achievement of learning goals
Serves as a resource for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development
Plans and provides for orientation onboarding activities to include classroom and skills/simulation lab learning
Facilitates the onboarding of employees to ensure integration to the role on both unit and system-wide levels, focusing on retention and growth
Assists in the development, coordination, and evaluation of competency programs and identifying deficiencies in staff competency
Integrates research and evidence-based practice into the development of educational activities
Participates in activities to promote the specialty of Nursing Professional Development
Collaborates with their peers in the Professional Development team to provide hospital wide nursing education such as the nurse residency program, annual mandatory education and competencies, and product conversions.
Qualifications:
Education Requirements: BSN required; MSN preferred
Experience: Minimum 2 years pediatric nursing experience in Transport, PICU, ED, and/or NICU; Prior Neonatal/Pediatric Transport and EMS experience preferred.
Certification and Licensure: PA Registered Nurse License, Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required; Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse (PHRN) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred.
