Job description

The Registered Nurse working as a member of the Diagnostic Imaging team provides service to patients in all Imaging modalities, including sedation services. Patient populations include: ambulatory patients, day patients, inpatients, and patients in off-site locations. Includes pre, intra and post procedure care for patients in: Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, General Radiology/Fluoroscopy, Mammography and PET/CT. Imaging departments are currently located at OHSU Marquam campus, KPV, PPV, SJH, DCH, CHH, and off-site clinics (currently Beaverton off-site campus). Hours of operation are seven (7) days a week from 0700-2030. RN to patient staffing ratios are variable. Staffing needs are dynamic and may change during and/or between shifts based on: add on sedation procedure and add on imaging procedures from all Imaging modalities. All Intensive Care Unit patients receive care compliant with the OHSU Adult Intensive Care Unit standard of care. Diagnostic Imaging nurses provide total nursing care: No CNAs, LPNs, or HUC coverage is available. The Diagnostic Imaging RN is expected to practice in accordance with the professional practice standards and core values, maintains a current knowledge base relevant to area of practice, governing agencies, and models a commitment to service excellence.  Care is provided to patients of all ages.

 

Department Specific Working Conditions:

 

The RN must be able to travel to Diagnostic Imaging department locations via aerial tram and to/from off-site locations (currently the Beaverton Imaging location). Staff cover services in all Diagnostic Imaging locations. The RN is responsible for patient communication regarding pre, intra and post imaging related care/information.


Hiring Bonus and Relocation Package Available. Must begin work by March 31, 2024 to qualify.

 

BSN rates $51.50-$78.36 per hour, based on education and experience. ADN and MSN rates also available.

  • Associate Degree of Nursing awarded from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon RN license by 1 week before start date
  • Current BLS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date
  • BSN in Nursing preferred

Department Specific Requirements (experience, competencies, equipment, certifications, etc.):

  • Minimum two years of Critical Care, ED, Procedural, Pre/Post or Radiology Nursing experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS at time of hire (must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA. NOTE: licenses must not expire during orientation or probation period)
  • Current IV placement experience
  • Must be able to travel by Aerial Tram between Marquam Hill and CHH location
  • Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English
  • Computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information and tools

Department Specific Preferences (experience, competencies, equipment, certifications, etc.):

  • ARIN Certification (Association for Radiologic and Imaging Nursing)
  • Cardiac nursing experience, understanding of ECG rhythm and interpretation
  • Cardiac imaging procedure experience (medication administration and monitoring)
  • Procedural Sedation experience
  • Current experience with central line evaluation and maintenance (port access/de-access, PICC, etc.)
  • Experience with Diagnostic Imaging pre, intra, and post procedure care requirements

Length of Orientation:

  • Experienced in Specialty: 3-6 weeks
  • Experienced, but not in Specialty Area: 4-8 weeks
  • Resource Nurse:  Time varies based on experience
