Emergency General Surgery:*
10A is an Acute Care unit for the Emergency General Surgery Service. The unit is also designated as overflow for the Trauma and Vascular Services. The patient population includes primarily complicated abdominal surgeries for conditions such as necrotizing pancreatitis and entercutaneous fistulas, colectomies; and complications of prior surgeries. Other diagnoses include necrotizing fasciitis, complicated appendectomies, bowel obstructions, diabetic ulcers, necrotic venous ulcerations, ischemic arterial ulcers, plus various traumatic injuries that may occur during MVC or falls.

Trauma:*
Designated Acute Care unit for all trauma/surgical ventilated patients. 13A provides care to adolescent through geriatric patients ranging from 16-100+ who have a variety of diagnoses, which require medical /surgical interventions and recovery for Trauma related conditions. This population may include, but are not limited to: injuries related to motor vehicle accidents, including moderate to severe traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries. gunshot and stab wounds; traumatic amputations; limb reattachments; multisystem trauma; spine surgery fracture repair, sport related injuries and interpersonal and intrapersonal violence, mental health disturbances. It is the overflow for Orthopedics, General Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Plastics.

Transplant/Urology/Plastic Surgery:*
Transplant/Urology/Plastics (4A) is an Acute Care unit specializing in solid organ transplant (kidney, pancreas, and liver), complex plastic reconstruction surgeries, urology, and nephrology diagnoses and related surgeries. The patient population ranges from 18 years of age to the elderly. 4A nurses care for patients after kidney, pancreas and liver transplants and complex plastic reconstruction related surgeries. 4A nurses have specialized knowledge in the care of patients with urology and nephrology diagnoses and administration of continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). A multidisciplinary approach to patient care, collaborating with the entire health care team in daily charge nurse/physician/case management rounds, and weekly transplant team rounds. Education is a priority for all patient populations and their families to promote quality care. Through the use of demonstration and interactive teaching methods, 4A nurses are able to promote lifestyle/behavior changes and help ease the transition from hospital to home.

General Surgery:*
The Gastrointestinal and General Surgery inpatient adult Acute Care unit for OHSU. We specialize in major abdominal and other complex surgeries. Our nurses have extensive knowledge in wound and fistula care/management, negative-pressure wound therapy, and ostomy care. We collaborate with our surgical service teams, as well as a broad multidisciplinary group including: PT/OT, dietitians, wound care nurses, social workers, case managers, speech therapists, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists to deliver exceptional evidenced-based pre and post-operative care for our patients.

Orthopedics:*
9KPV Orthopedics & Spine provides care to adolescent through geriatric patients ranging from 16-100+ who have a variety of diagnoses which require surgical interventions and recovery for orthopedic conditions. This population may include, but is not limited to: joint replacement surgeries and revisions, orthopedic tumor surgeries, spine surgeries, fracture repairs, and other types of orthopedic care. 9KPV also provides care for a variety of surgical observation patients who require monitoring after day surgery procedures for pain control, postop nausea and vomiting, surgical site monitoring or other indications.

Recovery Unit:*
CHH2 Outpatient Care Unit provides care for a variety of surgical observation patients who require monitoring after day surgery procedures for pain control, postop nausea and vomiting, surgical site monitoring or other indications. Patients on the OCU have met phase 1 recovery criteria in a post-anethesia care unit (PACU) setting and are anticipated to discharge within 24-48 hours of arrival on the unit. Common procedures include: thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, gynecology and urology procedures, mastectomy, breast reduction and reconstruction, GI procedures, laminectomy, sinus surgery, simple fracture repair, orthopedic hardware removal, 1-3 level spinal fusions, total knee and hip joint replacement, dialysis graft repair and placement, laparoscopic procedures such as appendectomy and cholecystectomy and hernia repairs, ophthalmic and cochlear procedures.

Required Qualifications:
- BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
- ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
- Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
- Internal ONA applicants: Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
- Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
- BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application)
- BLS must not expire during orientation
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
