Job description

Pharmacists Mutual Insurance has an opening for a Risk Managment Representative.The Risk Management Representative serves the enterprise as a resource for vendor management, RMIS system maintenance, performance of desk risk reviews, and coordination of work performed by vendors. They may be called upon to perform duties similar to their peers in the field Risk Management Consultant roles that include evaluating risk faced by members and providing training.

Risk Management Representative

  • Requires limited direction from manager.
  • Assists in leading projects that impact the way the enterprise manages risk.
  • Evaluates low complexity risks for our members independently. May require assistance with risks of moderate complexity.

Senior Risk Management Representative

  • Requires little to no direction from Manager.
  • Leads projects that impact the way the enterprise manages risk.
  • Evaluates low to high complexity risks for our members independently.
  • This position includes the role of a trainer, mentor, coach and Company representative.
  • Must demonstrate a history of high quality work and is capable of setting a positive example to others within the department.

Essential Functions

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Stays abreast of current events and facilitates the provision of risk alerts to relevant members when a significant or catastrophic event is imminent.
  • Documents Risk Management procedures and processes to facilitate consistency of how work is performed across the department.
  • Serves as a liaison between field Risk Management Consultants and members.
  • Serves as the internal lead for maintaining the Risk Management Center and Risk Management sections of the insured portal.
  • When evaluating external risks, conducts research of the accounts using both internal and external resources. Researches account background, industry and technical information as part of preparation for site visits and meetings.
  • Reviews questionnaires as required for internal desk review of accounts.
  • Conducts review or licenses for Pharmacists, Veterinarians and Dentists.
  • Actively helps balance the workload of peers through the assignment and monitoring of vended Risk Management work.
  • Delivers appropriate method of proactive communication with internal and external business partners.
  • Assists with corporate insurance program.
  • Maintains records and produces reports to ensure that the department is meeting or exceeding state mandated Risk Management standards.
  • Assists with account stewardship when requested.
  • Plans completion of assessments and individual work assignments to meet desired timelines.
  • Works cooperatively and builds strong working relationships with leadership, field mentors and peers to share and gather information necessary to complete work.
  • Participates in training classes, and department and company meetings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • General knowledge of safety and Risk Management principles and practices, including regulatory (OSHA, DOT, etc.) and national consensus codes (NFPA, etc.) preferred.
  • Understands the commercial insurance business process and the fundamental role of loss control in that process.
  • Maintains technical proficiency through continuing education, maintenance of technical designation(s) and independent work.
  • Ability to read and understand regulatory compliance regulations and respond to technical inquiries.
  • Ability to produce state required reports and coordinate the activities of others to meet needs.
  • Ability to conduct independent research using internet browser.
  • Use inductive and deductive reasoning skills to interpret information.
  • Ability to use initiative and apply innovative thinking.
  • Ability to provide quality member service.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment through written and oral communication.
  • Ability to work independently to make critical decisions and analyze complex issues
  • Contribute effectively to the accomplishment of all goals and objectives.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations.
  • Obtain and utilize sensitive information discreetly and objectively.
  • Maintain records; prepare reports/correspondence related to the work.
  • Read, interpret, and input data efficiently and accurately.
  • Determine when to escalate concerns to the appropriate level of management.
  • Utilize computer and related software effective.
  • Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and punctuation.

Experience and Education Qualifications

Risk Management Representative

  • HS Diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience; or
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent and 3 years of related experience; or
  • Bachelor's Degree

Senior Risk Management Representative

  • HS Diploma or equivalent and 7 years of related experience; or
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent and 5 years of related experience; or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of related experience; or
  • Master's Degree

Special Requirements, Licenses and Certificates

All levels:

  • Meets training and education requirements for states they are assigned

Preferred Qualifications

All levels:

  • Prior experience working for an insurance company
  • Prior experience working for either a Dental or Veterinary or Pharmacy facility
