See Yourself as a Risk Analyst
A Risk Analyst 1 analyzes data from internal and external sources to monitor and provide insight into emerging mortgage insurance performance trends. Identifies and interprets trends and patterns in datasets using business intelligence tools and general statistical methodologies. Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and available data elements. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
A successful candidate will have a working understanding of financial performance measurement and statistical methodologies, typically obtained through college-level courses in finance, business analytics, and statistics. Prior professional or academic experience using business intelligence tools such as Tableau, SAS, Alteryx, or Python/R is a requirement. This position involves working on a wide range of projects, which may include assisting with the evaluation of reinsurance transactions, cash flow forecasting, analysis of regulatory capital requirements, and automation of routine portfolio reporting.

  • Leverage quantitative methods and tools (e.g., SAS, Alteryx, Excel, etc.) to identify and interpret trends and patterns in datasets, create presentations, and communicate strategic business findings to senior management.
  • Support regulatory compliance functions related to portfolio composition and performance, including the preparation of exhibits and data submissions.
  • Assist with the evaluation of new and existing reinsurance transactions by analyzing loan performance, preparing data tapes, and maintain existing reporting.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and provide clear directions on data requirements, automation opportunities, and process enhancements.
  • Pro-actively contribute to the data management process through effective data research and analysis. Assist in improving data quality and report accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Your Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative field (e.g., finance, business analytics, economics) preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years' experience preferred but will consider recent grad with strong programming skills (e.g., SAS, SQL, Alteryx) and demonstrated ability to grasp new concepts/techniques.
  • Good problem solving and data management skills with abilities to digest vast amounts of data, manipulate it, and identify correlations though a variety of statistical techniques.
Your Skills and Abilities:
  • Attention to detail as demonstrated by effective time-management, good organizational skills and use of analytical thinking to solve problems.
  • Strong aptitude for analytics; demonstrated ability to draw value-added insights from large amounts of financial data.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and show a demonstrated ability to absorb information quickly.
  • Strong critical thinking
  • Training / experience with Microsoft Office products; very high-level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to be a self-motivator and work independently, as well as work effectively with others.
  • Intellectually curious; willing to question traditional ways of doing things and develop new approaches to old challenges
Other Position Parameters:
  • Work in a team environment; balancing and prioritizing requests from multiple managers and departments within Radian
  • Exceptional time management skills, able to respond to changing priorities
