Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating RF and microwave components and/or subsystems for microwave communications at X, Ku, Ka and Q/V bands. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipments based on analysis of specifications and reliability. May also review vendor capability to support development.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develops, designs, and tests of high-power RF/microwave components, subsytems and systems.
  • Develops the Program Design Specifications.
  • Coordinates schedule and cost forecasting with the project Manager and Program Manager.
  • Directs Design Engineering personnel in the design and development.
  • Provides staffing requirements to the Engineering Manager.
  • Evaluates systems and directs design modifications.
  • Makes presentations to management and customers.
  • Performs reliability prediction calculations and reports.
  • Performs root cause analysis on products, technical problems, processes and documentation.
  • Researches and specifies specified parts.
  • Responsible for implementing preventive and corrective action.
  • Responsible for generating, reviewing and implementing engineering change orders.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs circuits and fixtures as required.
  • Programs circuits and test fixtures. .
  • Procures material and equipment as may be required.
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties when required.

Compensation: $150,000-175,000 annual base salary, depending on experience

Computer Skills and/or Tools: Engineering CAD simulation tools (e.g. ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS or equivalents), MS Office, expandable software, expandable BOM utilities,

Qualifications/Competencies: To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Hands-on exp. with RF/ microwave design expertise in Power, Low Noise and Driver Amplifier design for commercial and military communications receivers, transmitters and sub-systems up to 50 GHz.
  • Proficiency in RF / microwave modeling and simulation design tools (ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS or equivalent). Good understanding of digital communication theory.
  • Experience with analog, digital and mixed mode circuit design and layout is a must.
  • Ability to direct and manage project work.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Excellent math aptitude.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new software products and hardware environments.
  • Aptitude and desire to learn new products and technologies.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Expertise in the use of typical RF/Microwave test equipment such as PNAs, spectrum analyzers, RF synthesizers, vector network analyzers, phase noise test sets. oscilloscopes, etc.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or other related discipline and four years of job related experience.
