The Revenue Cycle Specialist (SWAT Specialist) will assist with all processes within the Registration and Revenue Operations departments. The individual in this position must be self-driven, adaptable, and will fill in for various roles during extended absences or due to increased staffing needs. The SWAT Specialist is expected to apply existing knowledge to quickly learn new processes and procedures and be able to work independently, take initiative and adapt to working within various groups as a solid team-player. The successful candidate will adapt quickly and easily to changes in assignments and is expected to carefully track resolution of all special projects and regularly report status back to management.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Become fully proficient in all workflows within Registration and Revenue Operations.
- Projects assigned may last one day or several weeks, depending on specific need of the department.
- Perform tasks ranging from data entry to assignments involving critical thinking and research.
- Cash Management – review, record, and batch deposits received through cash room and work with clinics to resolve discrepancies.
- Payment posting of both insurance and patient payments (electronic and manual).
- Research and resolve missing checks, missing EOBs and other posting issues.
- Review credit balances, refund requests, overpayments, underpayments and resolve or appeal as necessary.
- Verify eligibility via multiple sources.
- Confirm, update, and/or edit patient demographic and insurance information.
- Perform all Registration Coordinator level tasks including manual registration, data entry, TES and claim edits and eligibility workflows.
- Complete accurate cost estimate for patients and CU Medicine partners.
- Assist payment review team with underpayment appeals.
- Work within the pre-paid services work view to accurately allocate pre-paid payments and issue refunds when appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
