Job description

Position Summary:
Responsible for reconciling cash and mutual fund positions, daily dividend processing, and various administrative functions. Takes initiative to develop and implement efficiencies. This position works proactively with Alerus Retirement and Benefits (ARB) staff to provide exception customer service to clients.
Essential Responsibilities:
Job Function 1: Reconciliation - 55%
  • Responsible for various daily cash reconciliations.
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of mutual fund positions between our systems and the fund companies.
  • Coordinate with team members to complete posting of dividends by deadline.
  • Responsible for daily reconciling of outside assets.
  • Perform daily updates to recordkeeping and trust systems for the outside assets.
  • Coordinate with outside custodians on cash movement.
  • Reconcile and submit the recon on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly data for management reports and review.
  • Request checks and wires for deposit into the accounts.
  • Daily wire approval and postings.

Job Function 2: Alerus/Department Support and Teamwork - 30%
  • Provide primary and backup coverage, as needed.
  • Actively participate in meetings for the company, department, and team.

  • Create, update, and maintain written procedures in Alerus procedure (R&R) database.
  • Identify and assist to implement process improvements that enhance the client experience and build scale.
  • Build solid working relationships with team members across the organization.

Job Function 3: Department, System, and Knowledge - 15%
  • Gain and maintain a moderate level of knowledge encompassing all benefit systems and processes that pertain to the position.
  • Maintain compliance knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Actively pursue continuing education, reading, and self-development to enhance skills.
  • Complete regulation, compliance, and additional training as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent related experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience in retirement operations or related area.
  • Knowledge of Retirement and recordkeeping systems and recordkeeping operational functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with employees and customers.
  • Ability to effectively interact with end users and business sponsors.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Excel including formulas, pivot tables, and functions.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple assignments.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Proven record of working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Available to work flexible hours to meet daily schedules and cover peak workloads.

Physical Demands - Must be met with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Extended periods of time sitting at a desk and using office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer/laptop for approximately 8 hours per day.
  • Extended time is spent reviewing physical and electronic documents.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Periodically, may also do light lifting of supplies and materials which weighs in at approximately 20 lbs.
  • Will spend most of time in an indoor environment.
