Job Title:Sales Associate

Summary:
The Sales Associate is an important Rittenhouse Needlepoint brand ambassador. This role promotes the products, services, and creates the client experience both in and outside the store. The Sales Associate achieves the sales goal through KPI focus, client development, drives conversion through salesmanship, product knowledge, client outreach, and relationship management. They provide the client with entry into the world of needlepoint and work to grow these relationships.
Sales Associates will partner with the Sales Manager to lead the store team, supervising, mentoring, training, and functioning as the Sales Manager in their absence; will also be responsible for keys & alarm code, and processing refunds.
Essential Functions:
Sales
- Achieve the store’s sales objectives through consistent personal sales goal achievement, supporting the sales motivation.
- Focus on KPI metrics including Sales Productivity, take part in tracking and achieving goals.
- Model exemplary selling techniques and customer service including the ability to pull threads for canvases. Work as a team in selling.
- Support E-commerce in fulfilling orders, pulling and suggesting threads for canvases.
- Assist with Finishing in-take and special orders including, notifying clients of completed orders, collecting final payment and following up on outstanding orders.
- Prepare and send nightly and weekly business recap.
Customer Service
- Bring RNP mission and core values to life in the client experience.
- Develop and maintain long-term repeat clients through the effective use of customer service, clienteling tools and events.
- Exhibit active selling when assisting clients in benefit to the client and RNP.
- Communicate clearly with clients and other departments. Ask questions and confirm details of custom orders to ensure accurate finished products.
- Support RNP in local outreach to the community network to develop the customer base and increase sales.
- Bring ideas to the conversation about marketing to build customer awareness to increase traffic and sales.
HR
- Partner with the team leaders in training others on all sales aspects of their job responsibilities including customer service, client outreach, company history, product knowledge, visual merchandising, and store operations.
- Support in motivating others to foster a positive work environment that is a friendly, service-oriented atmosphere. Support the RNP mission and core values.
- Monitor the schedule to ensure store coverage.
- Attend monthly store meetings.
Operations
- Maintain a consistently clean and well-maintained sales floor and back room. Support team by participating in routine light cleaning.
- Ensure the products and supplies are well arranged in an orderly manner.
- Support store safety and abide by local, state, and federal regulations.
- Open and close the store. Follow the company cash handling, loss prevention, store funds and deposit procedures.
- Ensure that all visual merchandising directives are implemented according to company standards.
- Utilize maintenance and merchandising checklists to validate that standards are consistently being met.
- Support the filing and in-store communication system.
- Ensure all administrative responsibilities are completed promptly and accurately.
- Identify and present operational issues and concerns to the sales manager or other team leader.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Sales Manager or other leader.
Inventory
- Ensure product and supplies are replenished and re-stocked daily and as needed.
- Follow SOPs to ensure that product receiving, outgoing shipments, repairs and RTVs are accounted for with accuracy.
- Review product sales performance, client feedback and inventory needs. Communicate with the manager and other leaders.
- Perform inventory audits as directed to ensure consistent inventory control and achieve store inventory shrinkage goals.
Requirements and Skills:
- Previous experience in retail or relevant customer service positions.
- General knowledge of needlepoint, art and design.
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Proven ability of good listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, effective and timely communication, reflecting an appropriate sense of urgency.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of decorum when working with clients.
- Ability to problem solve and to offer solutions and ideas.
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with other team members and outside vendors.
- Proficiency to learn required software programs including the POS system.
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to achieving targeted objectives.
- Show enthusiasm and passion for RNP and its clients.
- Interest in needlework and understanding of the RNP’s positioning within the craft industry.
- Flexible to work non-traditional hours to the needs of the business including holidays, nights and weekends.
- Must have employment authorization to work lawfully in the United States.
- Ability to perform tasks in a stationary position for an extended period during business hours, able to lift boxes/files of weights less than 25 lbs.
