The Retail Sales Associate plays a key role in maintaining an organized and customer-friendly environment. Responsibilities include assisting customers, restocking merchandise, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the store. This position offers an opportunity to develop valuable retail and customer service skills while being an essential part of the campus community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting and assisting customers with a friendly and approachable demeanor, addressing inquiries, and ensuring a positive and personalized shopping experience.
- Execute daily tasks related to maintaining the retail store, including but not limited to restocking shelves, organizing displays, ensuring product availability, and maintaining cleanliness standards, contributing to a visually appealing and well-organized shopping environment.
- Proficiently handle financial transactions within the retail store, demonstrating accuracy in processing sales, handling cash, and utilizing point-of-sale systems.
- Ensure compliance with established cash-handling procedures and contribute to maintaining the financial integrity of the store.
- Cultivate positive and effective interactions with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, visitors, and patrons, by providing attentive and personalized assistance.
- Follow inventory management guidelines, including organizing stockrooms and shelves, contributing to a well-organized and visually appealing retail space that aligns with the store's layout and presentation standards. Perform other duties assigned
Experience and Skills:
Skills & Abilities:
- High school diploma required
- Preferred background includes a foundational knowledge of retail practices, encompassing customer service principles, inventory management, and familiarity with point-of-sale systems
- Comfortable processing financial transactions with precision, including handling cash, utilizing point-of-sale systems, and ensuring accuracy in sales transactions
- Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and interpersonal, essential for engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders and addressing customer inquiries
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays required, not including school holidays such as Thanksgiving or Christmas
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills required
- Ability to consistently lift heavy items within the established weight limits
